Senior Data Engineer
Job Description
Role Description:We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable data platforms that power high-volume, data-driven applications. This role focuses on building reliable data pipelines, enabling analytics at scale, and leveraging modern AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to improve engineering efficiency and quality.
This position is located
in San Diego, CA and has the work schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day work from home.
Responsibilities: - Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platforms
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for large, complex datasets
- Build and manage data solutions using Databricks and Spark
- Develop backend data services using C# / .NET
- Leverage AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate development
- Design efficient data models and ensure high performance and reliability
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to deliver production systems
- Ensure data quality, availability, and performance across systems
- Lead technical design decisions and mentor other engineers
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university
- A track record of commitment to prior employers.
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Strong experience with data pipelines and ETL frameworks
- Experience building and scaling large data systems
- Experience with AWS-based data platforms and services
Preferred Qualifications: - Expertise with Databricks / Apache Spark, C# / .NET, and SQL/database design
- Experience with AI/ML data pipelines
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code or similar)
- Experience with streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)
- Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps practices

This position offers a base salary range from $124,000 to $190,000 a year, determined by relevant skills and experience, and a generous benefits plan.
