Description
SUMMARY The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for performing in-depth credit and financial statement analysis to assess and evaluate the financial condition and creditworthiness of businesses that have obtained or seek to obtain credit from the Bank, under limited direction from Credit Leadership. This position generally underwrites the Bank's more complex credit requests, with a strong focus on analyzing C&I relationships, and identifies policy deviations, covenant compliance matters, and structure-related recommendations to mitigate credit risk. The Senior Credit Analyst also reviews key loan documentation, prepares periodic loan and portfolio reports, participates in customer meetings as requested, and ensures credit source documents, analyses, and related information are properly maintained. In addition, this role provides technical expertise, training, and support to assist the Commercial Credit Manager in developing other analysts and supporting credit-related systems, reporting tools, and technology initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Independently spreads and analyzes financial statements and supplementary information. Performs detailed evaluations of customers' credit capacities and provides detailed reports outlining the financial condition of prospective and present borrowers.
- Reviews trends in the customer's business by comparing prior years and assessing covenant compliance. Reviews industry trends, assesses collateral, initiates credit inquiries, and assesses guarantor position.
- Assesses creditworthiness within the proposed structure and ensures adherence to the Bank's loan policy and risk management goals, including identification of any deviations from policy.
- Proposes recommendations, including structure-related recommendations, to mitigate identified risks. Discusses findings with the Commercial Credit Manager and lending staff to communicate recommendations regarding loan structure and enhance credit quality on both an individual and portfolio basis.
- Reviews legal documentation for key loan and approval terms; identifies and tests covenants. Maintains related trackers as required.
- Performs periodic loan reviews for existing commercial real estate, commercial, and construction loans.
- Provides technical expertise and guidance to other credit underwriting staff, including integration support and assistance with implementing new credit-related technology and reporting.
- Participates in customer meetings as requested by lending staff.
- Prepares various periodic reports with respect to the loan portfolio.
- Ensures credit source documents, information, and analyses are properly saved and filed. Assists with integration and testing of new credit and electronic filing systems and technologies as needed.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships and communication within the Credit Department, other departments, and clients to enhance customer service.
- Adhere to the Bank's privacy and data security policies including but not limited to safeguarding of sensitive information and complying with relevant regulations to protect non-public information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. However, the Senior Credit Analyst may provide technical guidance, training, and support to credit analysts and other credit underwriting staff as needed or requested.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in economics, accounting, business, finance, or a related field; equivalent specialized education in credit analysis may be considered.
- Minimum of five years of progressive banking experience in commercial credit analysis, C&I lending, commercial real estate, or construction lending; equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Significant knowledge and experience performing detailed analysis of business financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, statements of cash flow, tax returns, and related financial information.
- Strong PC skills required, including proficiency with financial statement spreading and credit analysis tools; experience with Moody's, nCino, Abrigo, or similar systems preferred.
- Familiarity with legal loan documentation, including the ability to identify key terms, conditions, covenants, and approval requirements.
- Working knowledge of banking, commercial lending, credit administration, and applicable federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Ability and willingness to develop additional technical knowledge and proficiency with credit-related systems, reporting tools, and evolving lending technologies.
- Intermediate typing skills to meet the production needs of the position.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate interest, ratios, proportions, percentages, and other credit-related financial metrics.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to analyze and interpret financial and legal documents, prepare reports and correspondence, provide guidance to others, and communicate effectively with customers and employees.

PAY RANGE DISCLOSURE The pay range for this position is $83,100 - $111,200 per year and is the lowest to highest salary Dedham Savings in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The Bank may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.
