Full Job Description
Clyde & Co US LLP is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel attorney with 10+ years of insurance coverage experience to join our rapidly growing insurance coverage practice. This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned coverage attorney who enjoys tackling sophisticated coverage issues, advising insurers on complex claims, and producing high-quality legal analysis and written work.

This position is primarily advisory and non-litigation in nature, with a focus on coverage analysis, strategic claim advice, and the preparation of detailed coverage opinions and coverage-related memoranda. You will work closely with insurer clients on complex commercial liability and excess coverage matters, including issues involving emerging risks such as artificial intelligence, social media, privacy claims, PFAS exposures, unfair competition claims, and other cutting-edge coverage issues.

While admission to the California Bar or Washington State Bar is preferred, we welcome applications from highly qualified attorneys licensed and in good standing in other U.S. jurisdictions.

What you'll do:
  • Advise clients on coverage issues arising under commercial lines liability and excess insurance policies.
  • Draft comprehensive coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, coverage position letters, and legal memoranda.
  • Conduct sophisticated legal research and evaluate complex factual and legal issues affecting coverage determinations.
  • Collaborate directly with claims professionals, in-house counsel, and key stakeholders to develop strategic and practical coverage recommendations.
  • Take a proactive role in managing matters, deadlines, and communication with clients.


We're looking for someone who:
  • Is admitted to practice law in California, Washington, or another U.S. jurisdiction and is in good standing.
  • Has 10+ years of insurance coverage experience (third-party coverage experience is preferred).
  • Possesses excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Has strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment while also working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Has experience mentoring, training and developing junior attorneys.

The salary range is $230,000 - $275,000 for California candidates and $200,000 - $250,000 for Washington candidates. The range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
