Job Description

Cintas is seeking a Senior Counsel - Environmental, Health & Safety to provide in-house legal services to the company with particular emphasis on environmental, health, and safety regulatory matters. More specifically, the Senior Counsel - EHS helps manage EHS legal matters and achieve appropriate resolution of those matters in a cost-effective and efficient manner. This position provides leadership and consultation to business units and operational management on the development of robust EHS compliance programs and consistent execution of corporate environmental and health and safety policies. This position will report through the office of the Deputy General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities:
• Advise business units and operational management on compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, including but not limited to CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, TSCA, and applicable OSHA standards and regulations.
• Manage EHS litigation, regulatory enforcement actions, on- and off-site agency investigations, and administrative proceedings.
• Serve as the primary internal legal support and liaison between field operations and the Deputy General Counsel on environmental and health and safety matters.
• Counsel internal business clients on permitting, reporting obligations, remediation activities, and environmental due diligence for transactions.
• Work collaboratively with corporate and operational teams to ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA standards and regulations across the company's operational facilities.
• Monitor changes to federal and state regulations and advise management on the operational impact of such changes.
• Manage incident reporting protocols to ensure workplace injuries and illnesses are reported to the appropriate federal and state agencies within required timeframes.
• Review and analyze incident data to identify trends and support the development of targeted safety initiatives.

Skills/Qualifications

Required
• Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active admission to at least one U.S. state bar and in good standing
• Minimum of four (4) years of full-time, relevant legal experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) law
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively counsel non-legal business clients
• Ability to travel to operational facilities as business needs require
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as intranet and internet-based tools

Preferred
• Experience managing environmental litigation, regulatory enforcement actions, or federal and/or state agency investigations
