This job is an individual contributor primarily responsible for performing control systems design, programming, implementation production and troubleshooting PLC/DCS systems as well as instrumentation calibrations, checks, purchasing, and troubleshooting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, network design and layout, program, debugs, determines material and/or component specifications, writes programming to operate machinery, purchasing, budgeting, permitting, training, supervising, documenting, startup and electrical drawings.
In this job, you will:- Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations; problems can include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues.
- Fully participate in the company Safety, Food Safety, and Quality programs.
- Monitor production processes, solve production issues, and formulate ideas for improvements of efficiencies and safety, implement changes.
- Coordinate projects from conception to completion; including project planning, hours estimation, scheduling, recommend/implement drawing changes for reduction in production time and ease of assembly; recommend/initiate production process changes to improve productivity and meet cost targets.
- Perform basic to moderate design tasks including site preparation, , electrical layout and design plans.
- Responsible for oversight and maintaining operation software including Historian, Maximo, OPC server, Kepserver, Linkmaster
- Create layouts, sketches, details and assembly drawings of projects; review drawings for production feasibility and cost impact.
- Create PLC/DCS programs for new process equipment, upgrade for existing equipment.
- Create HMI screens for new process equipment, upgrade for existing equipment.
- Develop system documentation including operation and maintenance manuals.
- Program PLC's, Drives, HMI and other automation components.
- Perform startups: troubleshoot panel/machine after build; in-field alterations and corrections.
- Backup programming and data.
- Troubleshoot controls issues including PLC, HMI, VFD both remotely and on site.
- Specify, purchase, and / or design electrical and control panels.
- Provide plant check-out, commissioning, and start-up services.
- Work with management on capital projects and production issues.
- Assist with IBM Maximo implementation and ongoing support, BIRT reports.
- Stay up to date with knowledge of new and existing products, applications, and standards: NFPA, IEC and CE as they relate to control panel design and build.

Here's what you'll need to be considered:EducationRequired - Associates degree in Engineering or relevant work experience.
ExperienceRequired - Experience or background in Controls.
Preferred - 2 years' related controls experience. Experience with Delta V, ABB Freelance, Dataparc, Allen Bradley PLC's
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Working knowledge, understanding, of electrical engineering, controls, PLC/DCS systems and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and mechanical systems.
- Intermediate computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Auto-CAD.
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
- Strong decision-making, negotiation, and construction management skills.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills, with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.
- Ability to learn and perform effective supervisory skills.
- Ability to coordinate projects through to completion.

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment.
Travel, up to 10% for trainings and meetings.
The expected base pay range for this role is:
$115,000.00 - $152,000.00
Actual pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including work location, job-related knowledge, skills and relevant experience for the job. Pay amount does not guarantee employment for any particular period of time.
