What You Will Do:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our customer programs team to support energy, sustainability, and infrastructure work with utility clients across the US. This position requires someone with experience in program design, EM&V and/or implementation of energy efficiency, electrification and load management programs. Specifically, we are seeking candidates with experience in impact evaluation, engineering analysis, data analysis, fieldwork, benefit-cost analysis and/or building simulation tools such as EnergyPlus, BEopt, OpenStudio, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or IESVE.

Our customer programs team is a community of experts working on the front lines of the utility industry transition. We help our clients design innovative programs, evaluate and optimize program contributions towards climate, energy, and other goals, and continuously improve the program experience for their participants.

In this role you will:

  • Evaluate the impact of utility programs using rigorous evaluation methods including and not limited to excel-based engineering analysis, building simulation, trend-data analysis, billing-data analysis.
  • Assess energy efficiency, building electrification and renewable energy technologies implemented through utility programs.
  • Assess and complete building energy modeling; using residential and commercial building simulation tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, BEopt, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, IESVE)
  • Perform complex technical and economic analyses for assessing cost-effectiveness of a program, spreadsheet creation, and project/task management
  • Ensure tasks are completed within project timelines and budgets and in adherence to quality standards
  • Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships
  • Mentor and train junior team members
  • Develop and present reports, memos, and presentations to clients
  • Have the opportunity to perform fieldwork including performance measurement and field data collection of building and industrial process energy systems

What You Will Need:

  • Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident due to nature of client engagements
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, environmental science, or related discipline AND Three (3+) plus years relevant utilities industry or consulting experience within the utilities industry; Or Master’s degree in an engineering, environmental science, or related discipline AND Two (2+) plus years relevant utilities industry or consulting experience within the utilities industry
  • All work experience must be post-graduation and include impact evaluation, engineering analyses, and building energy modeling
  • Experience in analysis of energy savings for common energy efficiency measures for residential, commercial, or industrial sectors (such as lighting, HVAC, motors and drives, industrial processes, controls, weatherization, electrification, and/or custom measures)
  • Outstanding problem-solving, engineering and data analysis skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with data analytics in Microsoft Excel and preferably with programing languages like R and Python.
  • Ability to manage significant portions of tasks while leading and collaborating with a close-knit team
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong interest in energy efficiency and sustainability
  • An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel and work onsite in a client office as needed
  • Must work onsite in a Guidehouse Office 1-3 days a week

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Preference will be given to candidates within 50 miles of a Guidehouse Office listed in the posting
  • Experience with utility programs including program evaluation, design, implementation and benefit-cost analysis. 
  • Multiple sector experience in analysis of energy savings for common energy efficiency measures for residential, commercial, or industrial sectors (such as lighting, HVAC, motors and drives, industrial processes, controls, weatherization, electrification, and/or custom measures).
  • Experience with one or more commercial building simulation tools: Energy Strong, EnergyPlus, BEopt, OpenStudio, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, IESVE, or other similar building energy simulation tools
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project
  • Experience with R, Python, or other programming languages
  • Field experience collecting primary data, such as energy usage data, equipment operation data, or equipment characteristics for the purposes of building energy audits or energy savings analyses
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to clients or executive audiences
  • Excellent at visualizing data, synthesizing insights, and storytelling with data
  • Experience training and mentoring junior staff

The annual salary range for this position is $89,000.00-$148,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
