Roland Berger is seeking Senior Consultants to join our Automotive Practice in Chicago, Detroit, or Boston. This is an opportunity to work with leading automakers, automotive suppliers, mobility players, and technology companies as they navigate the most disruptive period in the industry's history.

What You'll Work On

As part of the Automotive Practice, you will work on high-impact projects shaping the future of the industry, including:
  • Defining electric vehicle and autonomous mobility strategies
    Help clients develop strategies to thrive in the transition toward for EVs, autonomous vehicles, and future mobility services.
  • Designing target operating models for global competitiveness
    Support footprint redesign, supply chain resilience, sustainability strategies, and next-generation manufacturing initiatives.
  • Developing AI strategies that deliver true business impact
    Help clients identify where AI can improve speed and efficiency without sacrificing what it means to be automotive grade.
  • Scaling the battery and EV charging value chain
    Work on topics such as energy storage, charging infrastructure, vehicle-to-grid, and the broader energy ecosystem supporting electrification.
  • Reinventing how vehicles are built, sold, owned, and serviced
    Help clients transform manufacturing, aftersales, service, and customer engagement in a rapidly changing market.
  • Identifying bold growth opportunities
    Advise clients on organic and inorganic growth strategies, partnerships, market entry, and M&A-related strategic decisions.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Consultant, you will play an active role in project delivery, client engagement, analysis, and team collaboration. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Analyze market, financial, operational, and client data to identify insights and develop recommendations
  • Structure complex business problems into clear workstreams, hypotheses, and analyses
  • Build financial models, business cases, and quantitative analyses to support strategic decisions
  • Apply sound judgement in synthesizing research, interviews, market data, and client information into clear findings
  • Prepare compelling client presentations that communicate insights, implications, and recommendations
  • Support and participate in client meetings, interviews, and workshops
  • Develop realistic work plans with clear deliverables, timelines, and ownership
  • Build knowledge of automotive industry trends, business models, and competitive dynamics
  • Work effectively with project teams, clients, and colleagues across different levels, functions, and geographies
  • Contribute to internal initiatives such as business development, recruiting, training, and knowledge development
  • Develop more junior colleagues through fostering our culture
  • Use approved AI tools to support research, analysis, and deliverable development, while helping shape how AI is applied responsibly and effectively in the future of consulting

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA or PhD/MA/MS in relevant field, quantitative and analytically oriented fields such as Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, or Economics is preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of relevant industry/consulting experience
  • Experience in strategy or management consulting preferred
  • Understanding of Auto industry business models and key dynamics
  • Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods and techniques
  • Ability to think independently and take initiative in the face of ambiguity

Additional Information

The estimated base salary for this role is $180,000. This estimate reflects the best estimate at the time of this posting, and does not guarantee any specific salary for this position. It is important to note that at Roland Berger, individual salaries are determined on a case-by-case basis based on experience, education, office location, start date and organizational needs. Roland Berger will review your performance at least annually and may adjust your salary in its sole discretion

This roleis eligible for additional compensation, and is eligible for an annual bonus.
