FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $130,000 to $165,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.

SUMMARY

Redwire Defense is seeking an experienced Configuration Management Specialist IV to lead change control, version management, and configuration baseline integrity across our engineering programs. In this senior role, you will develop and maintain CM plans and documentation, manage configuration databases, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with DoD and organizational CM standards.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. This role requires a forward-thinking, process-improvement mindset to drive CM discipline, support quality assurance audits, and enhance lifecycle traceability across the organization. You will facilitate CCB reviews, assess the impact of proposed changes, mentor CM analysts, and train engineers and technicians on CM tools, processes, and best practices.

This position is well-suited for a seasoned CM professional with strong communication skills, deep expertise in CM standards (including EIA-649), and proficiency with PLM/PDM/ERP systems such as Windchill and SolidWorks.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee change management, version control, and release management processes.
  • Collaborate with, guide, and mentor cross-functional teams to ensure compliant configuration management practices.
  • Conduct configuration audits and prepare reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management plans and documentation.
  • Manage the configuration management database and ensure its accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and CACI configuration management policies and standards.
  • Supports quality assurance process audits.
  • Work with program POCs to document the interim baseline, which includes the list of documents that contain operational system CIs.
  • Facilitate weekly meetings and host Change Control Board (CCB) reviews on changes and research impact to the organization.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and support to engineers and technicians on CM tools and standards


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining comprehensive configuration management plans, procedures, and standards.
  • Strong knowledge of CM best practices and industry standards. Ability to explain core principles of configuration management to others. Can explain basics of CM standards, EIA-649, Can explain how CM relates to QMS (ISO 9001 and AS9100).
  • Ability to lead other cm analysts on projects and daily activities
  • Advanced ability in using a variety of configuration management tools and databases.
  • Advanced Experience with Structuring Bills of Material ;managing BOMs, ECOs, and drawing release processes in a regulated or disciplined environment.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and mentor lower-level professionals.
  • Must be a US person.
  • Minimum of (8) years of experience as a configuration management (CM) specialist or related role
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be customer and detail oriented and possess good decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), PDM (Product Data Management), and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
  • Experience with enterprise-level CM tools such as Windchill, Solid Works


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Aerospace/Military Doc Control Preferred
  • CMPIC, NDIA certification or other accredited CM certification
  • CM program lead, experience with ECP's (engineering change proposals), baseline configuration management interfacing with customer CM
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field preferred; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
