Senior Clinician InvestigatorThe Department of Medicine is seeking a senior clinician investigator (MD or MD/PhD) with an established, externally funded research program to join the faculty in the mountains of northern New England. We are looking for an investigator whose work addresses one or more of the following areas of strategic priority:
- Rural Health Care Delivery Science: Research on how care is designed, delivered, measured, and sustained in rural and underserved settings, with attention to the structural barriers (workforce shortages, distance, limited broadband, aging populations) that distinguish rural contexts from urban ones.
- Implementation Science: Research that closes the gap between evidence and practice, with particular interest in candidates who bring methodological expertise in hybrid effectiveness-implementation designs, adaptation science, and the study of how interventions succeed or fail when transported across health care environments.
- Digital Health and AI-Enabled Clinical Interventions: Research on the development, testing, and deployment of technology-driven tools for clinical decision-making, remote patient monitoring, hospital-at-home models, or other digital innovations designed for real-world clinical settings.
We will also consider candidates with strong programs in adjacent or complementary areas of health services research, provided there is clear alignment with the department's mission to improve health outcomes for rural and underserved populations.
The successful candidate will hold a scientist position (Senior or Principal Investigator) at Dartmouth Health and an academic appointment (Full Professor) at the Geisel School of Medicine. This individual will contribute to the research, clinical, and teaching missions of the department.
The Physician will be responsible for supervising and providing necessary and desirable medical care within the Physician's specialty to Dartmouth-Hitchcock patients, consistent with the policies and procedures of DHC, the facility at which care is rendered, and the directions of the Service Line Leader or his/her designee.
