Senior Cleans Process Engineer

Job summary:

The Cleans Process Engineer is responsible for supporting multiple Cleans processes in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing facility. This role focuses on improving equipment and process performance, reducing operational losses, supporting development activity, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Role Responsibilities
  • Reducing defectivity
  • Reducing cycle time
  • Improving tool utilization and availability
  • Identification and reduction of recurrent machine faults
  • Reducing cost
  • Scrap reduction and yield improvement
  • Supporting development activities
  • Developing and writing specifications
  • Implementation of Six-Sigma statistical process control methods
  • Capacity planning and modeling
  • Participating in and/or leading cross-functional and lean activity teams
  • Training others


Key challenges
  • Ability to work in a high volume 24x7 manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work individually, in small work groups or larger teams
  • Ability to deal with multiple issues and sliding priorities
  • Must be self-motivated; able to take initiative, self-generate projects, and effectively prioritize work
  • Willing to adjust work schedule as needed to support factory priorities 24x7
  • Be responsible for multiple tools across multiple platforms


Cross-functional aspects
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Facilities, Analytical Lab, and Device Engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with peers in other factories to implement Best Known Methods (BKMs).
  • Collaborate and work with OEM and second source vendors


Job qualifications
  • BS or MS in an engineering or science discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in process engineering in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment preferred
  • Previous experience in Cleans process role preferred
  • Previous experience with the following toolsets is highly desirable:
    • SCP9400, WS-820L, Akrion GAMA wet benches;
    • Semitool SST, SAT, RADR batch solvent cleaning systems
    • Screen 80B/80EX spray tools
    • FSI Mercury/Zeta
  • Ability to generate, analyze, and interpret equipment and process performance data and produce timely action plans to resolve recurring failures.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills, including the ability to train others and present complex datasets, process issues, and solutions to diverse audiences.
  • Competent in troubleshooting problems and capable of applying logic to isolate and resolve them.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with manufacturing and equipment engineering to deal with issues and priorities.
  • Good foundational problem-solving skills with creative solutions and out-of-the-box thinking.
  • Self-motivated; able to take initiative and effectively prioritize work for self.
  • A strong desire to help create a positive, winning, world class working environment.
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable.
