Dewberry is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Project Manager to join our growing Charlotte, NC office. In this leadership role, you’ll manage complex land development projects serving the energy, residential, commercial real estate, and public sector markets while helping drive business growth, strengthen client relationships, and mentor the next generation of engineering professionals.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Project Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and end-to-end project oversight for complex land development initiatives. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, manage project scope, schedule, budget, and risk, and serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and key stakeholders.

 

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, design, and execution of land development projects from concept through construction.
  • Direct multidisciplinary design teams in all aspects of project delivery, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion control, utility design, and associated calculations and reports.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service and long-term relationship development.
  • Partner with the Department Manager to support business development initiatives, including client outreach, proposal preparation, and project pursuits.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and enter new geographic and market sectors.
  • Collaborate with Dewberry teams across the organization to deliver complex, high-impact projects and leverage the firm's full range of capabilities.
  • Develop, and manage project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and overall project performance.
  • Guide projects through regulatory review processes and coordinate approvals with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for junior and mid-level staff.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering, or Landscape Architecture.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design and management of land development and capital improvement projects.
  • North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Registered Landscape Architect (RLA) required, or the ability to obtain within two months. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater modeling software, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience managing budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of permitting and regulatory approval processes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, mentor staff, and foster team success.
  • A collaborative, client-focused approach with a passion for delivering high-quality projects and growing business relationships.
