Job Description

The CAD Administrator supports end users and manages the organization's CAD environment from initial design through project completion. This role is responsible for the implementation, integration, maintenance, and optimization of CAD systems, templates, standards, libraries, parts catalogues, and related processes. The position also monitors system performance, develops reports, provides user training and technical support, and contributes to the ongoing improvement of CAD tools, integrations, and workflows to meet current and future business needs.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 216 980 1st St West, North Vancouver.

What you'll do

• Support the CAD software implementation / integration with all VSY systems
• Support for CAD database setup / management / administration
• Maintain / update / tailor CAD library, CAD parts catalogues, system specifications, CAD templates, CAD standards
• Support the CAD configuration control (model / production information), and data consistency with all VSY systems (e.g. ARAS / IFS, Oracle, etc)
• Develop, generate or produce automatic extraction of CAD reports to support business needs
• Provide CAD training and technical support to end users
• Contribute to the development of strategies, processes, procedures, and WI to improve efficiency and quality in the use of CAD tools with the end users.
• Develop, implement, and monitor customs tools / macros to enhance system functionality and improve overall performance
• Identify opportunities and recommendations for increasing workflow efficiency.
• Monitor performance of the CAD software systems in use by end users across the business.
• Report resource and capability requirements to the Cad administration Manager.
• Identify training needs, process improvements and development opportunities to ensure current and future team effectiveness.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent post-secondary education may be considered.
• Experience supporting and administering CAD environments, including software implementation, configuration, integration, and user support.
• Knowledge of data management, document control systems, SQL databases, and Microsoft Fabric data engineering components.
• Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages such as C#, PowerShell, Python, SQL, or Java.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with stakeholders across diverse teams and backgrounds.
• Strong technical writing, documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a focus on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
• Experience with CAD-PLM software integrations.
• Experience with ERP/MRP integrations, including Oracle.
• Shipbuilding or marine industry experience, including design, detail planning, or production information management.
• Experience with MSSQL and CAD scripting languages such as LISP, Diesel, VBA, or similar tools.
• Advanced network and systems troubleshooting experience, including software licensing and version control management.

The estimated salary for this position is $105,300 - $128,700. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
