Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for leading day-to-day purchasing activities and creating purchasing strategies, including negotiating pricing and purchase terms with suppliers. The Senior Procurement Specialist will create and develop purchasing processes and support and mentor the non-senior purchasing team members in the decision making process to fulfill needs for production, service, and development of Orange EV vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sourcing & Purchasing: Commodities include electrical components, motors, batteries, automotive suspension, steering, and safety components, hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies, fabricated metal assemblies, 3D printed parts, custom cut plastic and glass, and MRO or facilities items to support operations.
  • Production Shortages & MRP: Run Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and use Master Production Schedule (MPS) information to develop purchasing plans, execute purchase orders, and manage shortages.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Partner with Engineering to source prototype components for rapid design iterations and smoothly transition parts to mass production.
  • Supplier Risk Mitigation: Manage critical shortages by identifying and executing solutions to reduce the risk of suppliers not delivering in a challenging environment.
  • Mentor Team Members: Lead less-experienced teammates through the procurement analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Cost & Contract Negotiation: Negotiate long-term agreements (LTAs), volume discounts, and payment terms.
  • Inventory Optimization: Monitor safety stock levels and minimize excess inventory through scheduled POs.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering or a related field and 7 years of procurement experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of negotiation techniques
  • Demonstrated project, process, and people leadership skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Business Intelligence reporting experience (e.g. PowerBI, Fabric, SQL, or similar)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in business, engineering, or a related field
  • Professional certification for a supply chain-focused role (CPIM®, CPSM®, or similar)
  • Experience in a procurement role supporting a manufacturing environment
  • Experience sourcing/developing new suppliers for custom-designed components


Key Skills & Competencies

  • Highly Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of automotive components and system operations (steering, suspension, etc.)
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and/or electric vehicles
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing
  • Passion for clean energy technologies like electric vehicles
