Full Job Description
The Business Systems & Analytics Senior Analyst is responsible for delivering analytics, reporting, and data-driven insights supporting the Operations Services functions, including Supply Chain Management, Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE), Sustainability, Fleet, Security, and Production Accounting.
This role translates business needs into reliable reporting, actionable insights, and practical process improvements. Working closely with Operations Services stakeholders and IT, the Senior Analyst analyzes data, develops dashboards and repeatable analytical workflows, and supports the effective use of business systems. The position uses trusted enterprise datasets and established reporting standards to improve consistency, reduce manual effort, and support informed decision-making.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical capabilities with an understanding of upstream unconventional oil and gas operations. This individual independently manages assigned projects from requirements gathering through delivery, applies sound analytical judgment, and communicates findings and recommendations effectively to technical and non-technical audiences. The role also contributes to team standards, supports self-service analytics, and applies AI and emerging technologies responsibly.
Key Responsibilities

• Identify improvements to system use and reporting efficiency; partner with stakeholders and technical teams to validate downstream effects of changes.
Data Analytics, Reporting & Business Insights
• Lead analytical projects from requirements through delivery, aligning priorities, success criteria, timelines, and risks with stakeholders. Document reporting requirements, acceptance criteria, user acceptance testing, and business sign-off of resulting projects.
• Analyze governed Snowflake datasets and other approved sources to identify operational, cost, safety, environmental, sustainability, and business-process performance drivers and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, and management reports using reusable data models and agreed business definitions.
• Apply advanced techniques to reconcile data, evaluate scenarios, and build repeatable analyses; distinguish operational changes from data or reporting issues.
• Present findings, assumptions, limitations, and recommended actions through clear visualizations and concise PowerPoint presentations.
• Improve reporting reliability and usability, consolidate duplicate reports, automate recurring work, and support self-service analytics through training and documentation.
• Apply company-authorized AI tools to analysis, coding, and documentation, validating outputs and following data-handling requirements.
Data Governance & Continuous Improvement
• Validate outputs against source data and approved definitions using repeatable quality checks and reconciliations.
• Document sources, transformations, KPI definitions, assumptions, dependencies, and ownership to support traceable management, compliance, and sustainability reporting.
• Partner with business data owners and IT to resolve data-quality issues and align reporting with governed datasets and standards.
• Use stakeholder feedback and report usage to refine, consolidate, or retire reporting content and improve analytical consistency.
Analysis Mentorship
• Mentor analysts and business users, sharing analytical techniques, business knowledge, and practical guidance on interpreting results.
• Provide peer review of queries, dashboards, analyses, and presentations; contribute reusable templates, standards, and documentation.
Education / Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Supply Chain, Environmental Sciences, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in data analytics, business intelligence, business systems, operational reporting, or process improvement.
• Upstream oil and gas experience strongly preferred, particularly unconventional operations; experience supporting Supply Chain, HSE, Sustainability, Fleet, Security, or Production Accounting preferred.
• Demonstrated success independently delivering analytical solutions and reporting improvements, partnering with stakeholders, and presenting actionable findings to leadership.
Skills & Competencies
• Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, lookups, dynamic arrays, PivotTables, charts, and Power Query for large-dataset analysis and reliable, maintainable models.
• Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills, translating complex analyses into clear visual narratives, business implications, and recommendations for varied audiences.
• Proficiency in Power BI, Spotfire, or comparable visualization tools; knowledge of data modeling, consistent KPI definitions, and Power BI DAX and Power Query.
• Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of Snowflake or comparable cloud platforms for querying, transforming, and validating enterprise data.
• Ability to use Python, Alteryx, or comparable tools for repeatable analysis and automation, and to critically evaluate AI outputs within company requirements.
• Strong analytical judgment and attention to accuracy, with the ability to turn ambiguous business questions into scoped analyses and practical recommendations.
• Collaborative, service-oriented communication; demonstrated experience working independently, managing competing priorities, owning deliverables, escalating issues, and supporting continuous improvement.
Work Environment
