Job OverviewThe Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, Database Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing the data infrastructure, reporting solutions, and analytical tools that support decision-making across the organization. This role combines business intelligence and data engineering expertise to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable, and actionable data solutions.
Working within the Business Intelligence team and partnering closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, and other business functions, this role will support the organization's data warehouse, data models, ETL processes, dashboards, and automated reporting capabilities.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and optimize Power BI dashboards, scorecards, paginated reports, and automated reporting solutions.
- Develop and optimize data models, data warehouses, and ETL processes to improve the speed, reliability, and scalability of reporting and analytics.
- Support reporting and analytical needs across accounting, budgeting and forecasting, KPI reporting, operational performance, and other key business functions.
- Develop and maintain scalable business intelligence databases and reusable data products, including governed datasets, metrics, and dashboards.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate reporting and analytical requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Lead data-related projects from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, documentation, and implementation.
- Maintain data quality, validation, and reliability standards within the Business Intelligence Data Warehouse, particularly for critical business areas including Pharmacy and Medical Rebates, Group Purchasing, Procurement, and Revenue Cycle.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and data processes, improving efficiency and reducing reliance on manual data manipulation.
- Troubleshoot data and reporting issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Maintain documentation of data models, reporting logic, business rules, and technical processes.
- Provide technical guidance and promote best practices across the Business Intelligence team.
QualificationsEducation & Experience - Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in business intelligence, analytics, data engineering, database development, or a related field.
- Advanced experience with Power BI, including dashboard development, data modeling, DAX, Power Query, and performance optimization.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience developing and maintaining relational databases, data warehouses, and analytical data models.
- Experience developing and optimizing ETL/ELT processes and integrating data from multiple source systems.
- Experience with data validation, reconciliation, quality controls, and business-critical reporting.
- Experience managing data and analytics projects through requirements, development, testing, and implementation.
- Experience working with financial and operational data, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, revenue cycle, procurement, or similar functions, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Strong understanding of relational database design, dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and business intelligence architecture.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex data issues and identify root causes.
