Job DescriptionFire Underwriters Survey (FUS), part of Verisk Canada, provides fire protection information and services that support communities and the insurance sector. The Fire Risk Assessment Model (FRAM) is an evolving decision-support service that helps municipal fire departments use data and analytics to identify and prioritize properties for fire prevention attention.
We are seeking a Business Development Manager, Fire Underwriters Survey (FUS) to drive the growth, retention, and expansion of FUS and FRAM solutions across Canada. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, expanding municipal and insurance sector relationships, supporting subscription renewals, and identifying opportunities to grow adoption of existing and emerging FUS solutions, including wildfire-related services.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to municipal and insurance clients while partnering with internal subject matter experts to support onboarding, implementation, and long-term client success.

QualificationsWhat You Bring- Demonstrated success in business development, consultative sales, account growth, relationship management, or market expansion.
- 5 + years experience working with municipalities, fire departments, emergency services, insurers, underwriting organizations, risk management firms, or public-sector clients.
- 5 + years experience managing complex client relationships and long sales cycles.
- Strong presentation, relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to explain analytical or technical concepts in practical business terms.
- Experience developing proposals, supporting procurement processes, or participating in business-to-government sales activities.
- Knowledge of fire protection, fire insurance grading, property risk, municipal operations, public safety, or insurance industry practices is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders, opportunities, and priorities.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bilingual English/French is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel within Canada, as required.
