Senior BIM TechnicianJob Summary: The BIM Technician supports the preparation and coordination of construction documents and design deliverables using architectural and structural models and drawings. This role applies technical expertise in BIM and CAD software to develop accurate construction drawings, coordinate across disciplines, and support project teams throughout the design and construction documentation process. The BIM Technician works with moderate independence, applying established standards while exercising judgment to resolve technical issues and meet project requirements.
Responsibilities: - Prepare construction drawings and documentation from sketches, markups, and design concepts using BIM and CAD software
- Develop and modify architectural and structural models in accordance with company standards and project requirements
- Coordinate drawings and models with other disciplines, including architecture, structural, and MEP, to identify and resolve clashes
- Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Assist project engineers and project managers with document preparation and revisions
- Manage drawing sets, reference files, view templates, and sheet organization
- Perform site plan reviews and understand how grading and foundations impact building systems
- Apply company CAD/BIM standards and maintain consistent documentation practices
- Respond to RFIs and support construction administration documentation as directed
- Work independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance for complex or non-standard issues
Qualifications and Experience: - 10 years minimum experience producing architectural and/or structural construction drawings
- Working knowledge of BIM and CAD software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks
- Understanding of building information modeling (BIM) concepts and workflows
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and architectural/structural codes
- Familiarity with company and industry drafting standards
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate and collaborate across multiple disciplines
Preferred Qualifications- Associate degree or technical training in drafting, architecture, engineering technology, or a related field
- Experience working in an engineering or architectural consulting environment
- Familiarity with clash detection and model coordination processes
- Knowledge of construction sequencing and constructability principles
