Role OverviewAs a Backend Software Engineer, you will be joining the team responsible for the design, development, and fielding of software that connects our autonomous drone systems to operators. You will build Linux services, networking and data pipelines, and backend infrastructure that powers how operators receive, interpret, and act on information in high-stakes environments.
What You'll Do- Design and build Linux server-based systems, including sensor and hardware integrations, networking, logging, video streaming, and telemetry streaming
- Build backend and application software using Python, C++, Go, or similar languages
- Work with networking, APIs, TCP/IP, UDP, and communications protocols
- Troubleshoot Linux, software, networking, and hardware issues
- Test and debug systems in the lab and real-world environments
- Use tools such as Docker and CI/CD
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and software engineers
Required Qualifications- Strong Linux fundamentals, including system administration and the Linux command line
- Backend or systems software development experience in Python, C++, Go, TypeScript, or similar languages
- Experience with long-running services, servers, and networking-heavy software; Docker and Systemd
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/UDP and serial communication
- Ability to reason about the full stack from sensor to screen, understanding how latency, data fidelity, and service architecture affect downstream decision-making
- Comfortable with Git and version control
- Proficiency in using AI coding tools to quickly learn new systems and languages
☆ Nice to Have- Secure communications experience
