Job Description:

As a Custom Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing custom software solutions to design, code, and enhance components across systems or applications. You will use modern frameworks and agile practices to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions tailored to specific business needs. You are expected to be a subject matter expert, collaborate and manage the team to perform effectively, take responsibility for team decisions, engage with multiple teams, and contribute to key decisions. Providing solutions to problems within your immediate team and across multiple teams is a critical part of this role. Expert proficiency in Amazon Web Services (AWS) is required. Advanced proficiency in Core Java is recommended. Intermediate proficiency in Terraform (Software) and Data Migrations is suggested.

• Apply deep technical knowledge to design and implement robust software components that meet business requirements.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery of software solutions.
• Analyze complex problems and develop innovative approaches to improve system performance and reliability.
• Support and guide team members by sharing expertise and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance development processes and tools.

This role is on-site in Chicago, IL.

Must be eligible to work on projects requiring citizenship clearance requirements. 5 plus years of hands on experience building enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot. Strong experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud native solutions on AWS services such as EC2, ECS EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch. Proven expertise with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code IaC , including provisioning, automation, and environment management across AWS platforms. Proficiency with CI CD pipelines, Git based source control, automated testing, containerization Docker Kubernetes, and DevOps best practices. Strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills and supporting production environments.

Basic Qualifications:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native solutions on AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch. 
• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven expertise with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including provisioning, automation, and environment management across AWS platforms.
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control, automated testing, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and DevOps best practices.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills and supporting production environments.
