In this role, you'll lead airport planning and design projects that connect communities, support economic development, and strengthen critical transportation infrastructure across Alaska.
You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and a technical leader within our organization. This opportunity combines project delivery, technical expertise, business development, and mentoring while helping expand our aviation practice in Alaska and nationwide.
What You'll Do:Lead Meaningful Aviation Projects- Lead aviation planning and design projects from concept through construction, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client relationships.
- Manage airport planning, engineering, and civil infrastructure projects throughout Alaska.
- Lead projects from planning and preliminary design through final design and construction documents.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.
- Support construction activities and project implementation.
Serve as a Technical Leader- Provide technical leadership and practical solutions for complex aviation engineering challenges.
- Lead engineering analyses, design development, modeling, and technical decision-making.
- Serve as a technical resource for aviation projects in Alaska and nationwide.
- Provide guidance on airport design standards and engineering best practices.
- Support key aviation pursuits and projects.
Build and Develop High-Performing Teams- Develop engineering talent and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams.
- Mentor and develop engineering and technical staff.
- Promote quality, technical excellence, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
Grow the Aviation Practice- Help strengthen and expand Michael Baker's aviation presence in Alaska.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify and pursue new project opportunities.
- Support proposals, interviews, and strategic pursuits.
- Expand Michael Baker's presence within Alaska's aviation community.
What You Need to Succeed:- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Alaska, or an out of state license and ability to obtain an Alaska PE in six months
- 10+ years of civil engineering and project management experience, including plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- 5+ years of experience leading technical teams and mentoring staff.
- Aviation engineering and airport project experience preferred.
- Experience delivering infrastructure projects in remote or rural Alaska.
- Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience supporting business development and proposals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS applications is a plus.
COMPENSATIONThe salary range for this position is $120,000-$187,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
