PurposeThe College of Liberal Arts Technology Integration Team is seeking an experienced Senior Audio Visual Systems Programmer to join our in-house, full-service, design-build integration team at The University of Texas at Austin. In this role, you will develop and implement control system programming code, create user-friendly graphical interfaces, and provide technical training and documentation for AV systems used across campus.
Beyond programming new systems, you will also play a critical role in supporting and troubleshooting existing AV installations, ensuring reliability and optimal performance for faculty, staff, and students. You will collaborate with a skilled team to maintain, refine, and upgrade AV systems as technology evolves, addressing issues and providing advanced technical support when needed.

This Austin-based role, supporting projects across campus with no travel outside the Austin metro area, offers an experienced AV programmer a unique opportunity to work locally with a dedicated team that designs, builds, maintains, and supports cutting-edge AV technology for UT Austin's various learning spaces.
Responsibilities- Create control system programming designs to meet requirements and system capabilities. Read and interpret AV systems drawings. Gather programming requirements. Produce new modules and interfaces.
- Create user interface programming to meet requirements and system capabilities. Install control programs and touch panel design onsite, offsite, and remotely in physical systems. Mentor junior AV Systems programmers.
- Develop systems, with the assistance of STAs, to implement modern programming languages and frameworks for use with current and future control system hardware. Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise level software tools and asset management systems that will assist with the Technology Projects Team.
- Perform commissioning and acceptance testing of code. Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting as needed. Demonstrate completed system to clients. Create programming-related documentation. Maintain and update programming and code in installed systems. Maintain control code in version control repositories. Travel to various job sites on UT Campus is required.
- Provide Tier 3 assistance to the Classroom Help Desk group as directed.
- With the assistance of STAs, implement a system to ensure all the possible hardware configuration is completed before the device is installed by the installation team.
- Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or GED
- Demonstrated Crestron programming skills comparable to those typically gained through at least two years of experience, including the ability to independently develop, test, and commission complete control systems.
- Proficiency with Crestron development tools and programming languages used to create, troubleshoot, and maintain control programs and touch panel interfaces.
- Experience designing and developing Crestron graphical user interfaces that provide clear, consistent operation for end users.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and test complex integrated AV systems.
- Working knowledge of computer networking concepts and AV-over-IP technologies relevant to AV system deployment and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of integrated AV system components and their operation in educational or enterprise environments.
- Ability to read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaborate with clients, installation staff, support teams, and other technical partners.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree
- Completion of Crestron 201 training
- Completion of Crestron 301 training.
- Crestron Certified Programmer (CCP) certification
- Experience developing HTML5 user interfaces.
- Experience programming in C#.
- Crestron Digital Media Engineer Certification or Crestron NVX Certification;
- Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting AV-over-IP systems.
- AVIXA CTS, CTS-I or CTS-D certification.
- Experience configuring, commissioning, and troubleshooting DSP systems from manufacturers such as Biamp, Q-SYS, and Shure.
- Experience integrating and troubleshooting AV devices using TCP/IP, UDP, RS-232, or RS-485 communication.
- Experience deploying or troubleshooting systems that use Dante, AES67, USB, and HDMI.
- Experience integrating unified communications and collaboration systems with room AV systems.
- Experience developing Crestron control modules using manufacturer APIs and technical documentation.
- Experience modifying, troubleshooting, and maintaining control programs developed by others.
- Experience maintaining organized source code, revision history, and programming documentation.
- Experience conducting system acceptance testing and documenting results.
- Experience coordinating programming and commissioning work across multiple projects and deadlines.
- Professional experience in a university or large-scale enterprise environment.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to AV installation or support staff.
Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range$88,500+ Depending on Qualifications
