Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Revenue Officer serves as a senior leader responsible for advancing revenue generation, philanthropic development, commercial strategy, customer engagement, and business innovation for Murray State Athletics. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice president & Deputy Director of Athletics/COO, the Chief Revenue Officer combines strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership to build scalable revenue systems, optimize institutional assets, strengthen customer and constituent experiences, and position Murray State Athletics for sustainable commercial growth.

  • Lead strategic and operational initiatives spanning ticket sales and service, premium seating, fundraising, membership enhancement, donor engagement, hospitality, customer relationship management, business intelligence, audience monetization, venue utilization, special events, parking and tailgating programs, licensing opportunities, and emerging business ventures.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for assigned revenue-generation and commercial-strategy personnel.
  • Develop and execute an integrated revenue-generation and commercial strategy aligned with the long-term vision, financial sustainability, and competitive ambitions of Murray State Athletics.
  • Lead ticketing strategy and operations across sales, service, retention, pricing, packaging, inventory management, reporting, and customer experience.
  • Develop strategies that grow attendance, improve customer acquisition and retention, strengthen fan loyalty, and increase the long-term value of customer relationships.
  • Develop integrated customer and constituent engagement strategies that strength lifelong relationships with fans, members, donors, partners, and the broader Murray State community.
  • Lead the development, positioning, sales strategy, and performance optimization of premium seating, hospitality products, and other enhanced customer experiences.
  • Develop and execute fundraising strategies that increase philanthropic support while aligning donor engagement initiatives with the long-term priorities of Murray State Athletics.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with major gift prospects, donors, alumni, and key stakeholders while supporting a culture of philanthropy throughout the department.
  • Lead membership enhancement initiatives designed to increase participation, strengthen donor acquisition and retention, and expand annual philanthropic support.
  • Oversee donor stewardship, donor services, and constituent engagement practices that deliver exceptional experiences and strengthen long-term donor relationships.
  • Build and oversee customer and constituent relationship management, business intelligence, forecasting, reporting, and revenue-performance systems that strengthen accountability and support informed decision-making.
  • Use pricing strategy, market research, audience segmentation, customer insights, and consumer-behavior data to identify growth opportunities and improve commercial performance.
  • Evaluate athletics facilities, events, programs, experiences, and other institutional assets to identify opportunities for increased utilization, monetization, and enterprise value.
  • Develop and advance special events, external rentals, hospitality programs, parking and tailgating initiatives, licensing opportunities, and other year-round commercial activities.
  • Identify, evaluate and develop new business ventures and nontraditional revenue opportunities consistent with university priorities and the Murray State Athletics brand.
  • Collaborate closely with the corporate sponsorship team to maximize partner value, identify integrated commercial opportunities, and align sponsorship assets with broader revenue and fan-engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Brand, Communications & Fan Engagement unit to align audience growth, campaign priorities, customer acquisition, game-day experiences, and year-round engagement efforts.
  • Partner with athletics leadership, University Advancement, event operations, facilities, finance, development, campus stakeholders, and external partners to ensure coordinated planning and execution across revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Recruit, lead, mentor, and develop assigned staff while establishing clear goals, performance standards, accountability measures, and professional-development opportunities.
  • Monitor trends across collegiate athletics, professional sports, entertainment, hospitality, technology, and consumer engagement to identify emerging opportunities and competitive advantages.
  • Manage assigned budgets, contracts, vendors, operational plans, and departmental resources in accordance with university policies and applicable legal, conference, and NCAA requirements.
  • Review, monitor and manage athletics accounts to ensure accuracy, timely processing, compliance with university, state and NCAA policies, and resolve account issues appropriately.
  • Other duties as assigned.


As a member of the Murray State University Athletic Department, you shall comply with all applicable NCAA rules and regulations as provided in the NCAA Division I Manual. If you are found in violation of NCAA regulations, you shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Two years of experience in revenue generation, fundraising, athletics, account oversight, sales, or high-level administrative experience is required.
  • Demonstrated outstanding organization skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel & Word proficiently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills


Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications
  • Master's preferred.
