BKL Consultants Ltd. is looking for a Senior Architectural Acoustics Consultant to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. Based in our Burnaby, BC office, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to BKL's ongoing success while helping shape the acoustical consulting landscape in Western Canada.

As a senior member of our team, you will direct high-profile projects that will shape the acoustical landscape of Western Canada. Your expertise will be pivotal for our team to craft innovative solutions in critical industries such as healthcare, transportation, commercial, and residential. In addition to directing technical projects, you will play a key role in mentoring senior consultants and engaging with regulatory bodies and other industry leaders who are eager to strengthen acoustical practices and standards.

What You'll Do
  • Project Oversight: Direct our team to take full ownership of project lifecycles, from proposal preparation to data analysis and report delivery, and client management.
  • Collaborate and Mentor: Lead and mentor a team of acoustical consultants, while working closely with BKL's leadership, administrators and other professionals to meet project goals.
  • Advocate for Acoustics: Represent BKL at meetings and public forums, acting as an advocate for the promotion of acoustics in both private and public sectors.
  • Thought Leadership: Write and present technical reports, publish research, and lead seminars to help shape the future of acoustics in Western Canada.
  • Client Management: Positively impact current and future clients and the projects they bring to BKL by providing world class technical expertise and sales support.


What You'll Bring to the Job
  • A minimum of 15 years of consulting experience in acoustics, with a focus on architectural and building acoustics and experience with environmental noise and vibration assessment.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Acoustics, Audio Technology or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism, flexibility, and diplomacy.
  • Strong technical expertise, with a solid understanding of acoustics and the ability to engage with stakeholders to influence policy and practices.
  • Experience with acoustical modelling software, test equipment, and methodologies for sound and vibration measurements.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC procedures in a consulting environment.

  • Annual salary of $120,000 to $150,000 with overtime paid at time-and-a-half.
