Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Senior Architect with experiencein government projectsto join our Charlotte office. This position is ideal for a seasoned architect who is passionate about public-sector projects and creating civic spaces that strengthen communities. The ideal candidate will bring experience across multiple project phases and a thorough understanding of the unique requirements associated with municipal, government, public safety, justice, and community-focused facilities.

Market Focus: This role supports LS3P's growing Government Sector, serving a diverse range of local, state, and federal clients throughout the Southeast and beyond. Project opportunities include civic buildings, public safety facilities, municipal and county government projects, National Guard facilities, and federal work for agencies such as NAVFAC, USACE, and DHS. Team members contribute to projects delivered through both traditional design services and integrated design-build partnerships, providing experience with complex facilities, collaborative project delivery, and fast-paced execution.

A Day in the Life:
  • Contribute to the design and technical development of civic and government projects.
  • Prepare and coordinate construction documents across all project phases.
  • Collaborate with project managers, consultants, and design teams to deliver high-quality projects.
  • Support client interactions, project presentations, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Apply building codes, accessibility standards, and regulatory requirements to project solutions.
  • Participate in construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, site visits, and responses to contractor questions.
  • Support quality control efforts and maintain project documentation standards.
  • Mentor and share technical knowledge with emerging professionals.

Your Strengths as a Senior Architect, Government:
  • Technical production skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively produce design and construction documents
  • Experience with civic, municipal, government, justice, public safety, or other public-sector projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Experience with 3D communication, by hand or graphic software such as SketchUp, Lumion, or Enscape
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction documentation.
  • LEED accreditation or interest in achieving accreditation is preferred
  • Understanding of the design and procurement processes
  • Ability to direct and motivate work efforts of others and handle project challenges
  • Capability to self-manage project assignments from start to finish with oversight
  • Experience with incorporating research in design process

What You Bring To The Table:
  • Registered Architect with Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited university
  • 10+ years of design experience post licensure is preferred
