This role sits within the central commercial analytics team and serves Sales Operations and GTM leadership as its primary stakeholders.
The analyst owns analyses end to end: framing an ambiguous business question, acquiring and validating the data, choosing the method, and delivering a recommendation to senior stakeholders. Output is insight and recommended action, not recurring reporting.
The team is newly formed and the practice is actively being built. Methods, standards, and the analytical toolkit are being established now rather than inherited. The ambition is a mature, state-of-the-art commercial analytics function, and the person in this role will help build it. This is a good fit for someone who wants to shape how the work is done, and a poor fit for someone who wants established infrastructure and a defined remit on day one.
What you will do- Own commercial analyses from question through recommendation, partnering with Sales Operations and GTM leadership as the primary stakeholders, and with finance, renewals, comp planning and zone/country sales leadership as needed
- Work across a rotating portfolio of diagnostic questions rather than a fixed subject-matter remit.
- Current and upcoming areas include sales compensation plan cost and sensitivity modeling, salesforce productivity analysis, renewal and retention analytics including cohort decomposition of retention, expansion and cross-sell potential, discount strategy and effectiveness, customer lifecycle and acquisition-to-expansion dynamics, channel and route-to-market efficiency, and opportunity funnel root-cause analysis. The portfolio shifts with business priorities
- Contribute to a repeatable diagnostic framework: develop methods, definitions, and analytical patterns that are reusable across questions rather than rebuilt for each one
- Translate quantitative findings into executive-ready narratives and recommendations
- Diagnose process and data-quality gaps that distort commercial metrics, and work with process owners to close them
- Act as a senior technical voice on the team, providing informal guidance to other analysts and representing the analytics function directly with senior stakeholders.
RequirementExperience
- 5+ years in sales operations, revenue operations, GTM or commercial analytics, business operations, or management consulting with a commercial focus
- Domain fluency in the commercial metric set: quota and attainment, pipeline and coverage, bookings and ACV/TCV, renewals, GRR and NRR, churn, sales productivity
- Applied use of LLM/Agentic tooling in an analytics workflow, with strong judgment about where it is and is not reliable
QuantitativeAdvanced Excel modeling. Strong SQL. Comfortable with large, imperfect, multi-source datasets
Statistical modelingApplied statistical analysis on observational business data: regression, cohort and survival analysis, driver decomposition, sensitivity and scenario modeling. Can state the assumptions a method rests on and what breaks them
Methodological rangeComfortable selecting across diagnostic techniques rather than applying one. Moves between unfamiliar subject areas without a long ramp, and works productively when priorities shift
Code literacySufficient working knowledge of Python or R to write, read, audit, adapt, and debug analytical code, including AI-generated code. Authoring speed matters less than the ability to verify what the code actually does
SystemsCRM data, ideally Salesforce. ERP exposure, ideally SAP
VisualizationTableau or Power BI to a production standard
StakeholdersProven record translating analysis into executive decisions. Presents to senior leadership without an intermediary
AutonomyTakes a vague or poorly framed question and returns a scoped approach, not a request for specification
Preferred- Enterprise or industrial software industry background, including indirect and partner channels
- Sales compensation plan design, modeling, or administration
- Causal inference experience on observational data, particularly estimating behavioral response to incentive or policy changes
- Has built reusable analytical frameworks, metric definitions, or methodological standards, not only delivered individual studies
- Experience in an early-stage or newly formed analytics function
- Snowflake/dbt or comparable cloud data warehouse
