The team you will be a part ofThe Material Management team is responsible for inventory audits and maintaining inventory at optimum levels. Develops procedures to enhance the effectiveness of inventory control programs. Coordinates with relevant departments to schedule, audit, and reconcile periodic physical inventories. Oversees incoming shipments of merchandise to ensure that inventory is accurate, updated and provided according to schedules.
This role in summaryWhirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Materials Lead. The role will be based at our Perrysburg, OH plant. As the materials lead for the site, you will be responsible for supporting the operation of a world class plastic injection molding facility, striving to be the benchmark for Whirlpool in automation. In this challenging role, you will be called upon to lead your team to drive continuous improvements to safety, quality, delivery, and cost of the process.
Your responsibilities will include- Set strategy for the materials organization
- Lead inbound and outbound shipments for the facility
- Lead for materials planning and scheduling for the facility
- Lead for all internal material movement
- Responsible for inventory management
- Responsible for all inventory movement equipment
- Prioritize and organize short term and long term goals and activities in accordance with business objectives
- Identify and address opportunities for improvement relative to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics and personnel development.
- Managing supplier relationships
- Lead capital projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Lead process implementation, process optimization, root cause analysis, and capacity increases
- Facilitate projects and teach / mentor / train shop floor teams to ensure materials team operates in World Class fashion
- Work cross-functionally with other teams to drive solutions.
- Develop team in advanced problem-solving and skill training
- Support building and operating a highly automated facility
- Work effectively with your peers to share knowledge and leverage strengths
- Utilize excellent communication and documentation skills to transfer critical processes and support knowledge to others
- Lead and promote the use of kaizen activities
- Work with the procurement team and supplier quality on cost and quality projects
Minimum requirements- Bachelor's Degree engineering, logistics, materials or related business management field
- 5+ years manufacturing experience
Preferred skills and experiences- Operations management, logistics, supply chain, Industrial Engineering, or similar degree preferred
- Experience in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and SAP
- Strong understanding of lean principles and methodologies with a proven track record in driving continuous improvement via lean tools
- Experience in World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Logistics (LCS)
- Experience with AGC / AGV technology
- Experience setting up new processes and optimizing existing processes.
- Experience leading teams
- Drive initiatives to support change in the plant
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
