The Team
Credit Ratings is an integral part of S&P Global's Global Ratings Services, bringing together a diverse group of more than 1,400 analysts across key financial centers worldwide. The Corporates Ratings practice delivers forward-looking credit insights on a wide range of corporate entities, producing independent rating opinions that markets and investors rely on to understand how evolving risks affect financial stability and credit performance. The team provides analytical coverage of corporate issuers across the Transportation, Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, and Engineering & Construction sectors, monitoring industry trends, evaluating company performance and credit risk, and contributing to the ongoing assessment and maintenance of credit ratings.

This role plays a key part in delivering the independent, rigorous credit analysis that underpins S&P Global Ratings' trusted, decision-ready intelligence. The Senior Analyst leads analysis for an assigned corporate portfolio, synthesizing complex financial and market data into clear, committee-ready rating opinions. By integrating AI-enabled tools with deep analytical expertise, the role drives productivity, quality, and consistency across the credit process — contributing to analysis that informs investors, issuers, and market participants globally.
Responsibilities
Team Contribution & Capability Building
- Provide day-to-day coaching and guidance to Research Assistants and Rating Analysts, building capability in credit analysis, data discipline, and analytical tooling while reinforcing values-driven behaviors.
- Drive consistency and scalability by codifying standard work and promoting the disciplined adoption of shared analytical practices across the team.
- Strengthen AI-enabled productivity by developing reusable assets and proposing lightweight automations that free capacity for higher-value human analysis and relationship work.
- Partner with senior team members and Data and Engineering colleagues to identify, design, and scale AI and automation use cases with governance built in from the outset.
Core Analytical & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end execution for assigned credits, ensuring high-quality analysis and timely delivery with clear accountability across priorities.
- Own ongoing surveillance for an assigned portfolio, synthesizing performance data, market signals, and peer context into decision-useful insights with clear risk implications.
- Support the embedding of AI and automation tools into analytical workflows, applying structured validation and analytical judgment to maintain the integrity and reliability of conclusions.
- Prepare and review key analytical outputs — including model inputs, metrics, assumptions, and published reports — ensuring alignment with methodology, sector frameworks, and evidentiary standards.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
- Engage with external parties alongside senior team members, communicating complex analysis clearly and with credibility.
- Craft client- and executive-ready narratives that translate data, research, and analysis into clear, actionable stories.
- Build trusted stakeholder relationships through collaborative, adaptable, and analytically confident delivery.
Risk Management and Operating
- Ensure adherence to methodology, confidentiality requirements, and data governance standards; escalate issues early with clear options and recommendations to protect analytical integrity.
- Embed responsible, governed AI use into day-to-day workflows, using only approved tools and data while protecting confidential information at all times.
- Support the design, testing, and rollout of controlled automation and AI-assisted workflows, contributing to guardrail definitions that distinguish what can be automated from what must remain human-led.
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $154,000 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits. What We're Looking For
Required Skills and Experience:
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in corporate credit analysis, financial analysis, or a related field.
- Demonstrated credit, financial, and risk analysis skills, with the ability to connect key drivers to forward-looking risk views and actionable credit opinions.
- Practical experience embedding AI tools, large language models (LLMs), or automation into analytical workflows to improve productivity and analytical insight.
- Proficiency in analytical tools, with a willingness to learn data and automation platforms that support AI-enabled workflows.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex analysis into concise, evidence-based narratives for senior stakeholders and rating committees.
- High standards for quality, traceability, and governance, with sound judgment on the responsible use of AI in a controlled analytical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple credits and competing priorities, delivering high-quality work with limited oversight.
Preferred or Helpful Experience:
- Coaching or mentoring experience that has contributed to improved team capability, consistency, or the adoption of shared analytical standards.
- Experience contributing to process improvement, automation design, or the rollout of AI-assisted workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships across teams and functions through collaborative, credible engagement.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. A master's degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.
Additional Information:
- We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
- Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
