ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As a Senior Analyst, Canada Growth Fund Investment Management, based in Calgary, you will work with a team of highly motivated professionals who will pursue investments in large-infrastructure projects that are critical to Canada, scaling Canadian clean tech champions, and achieving other objectives that are critical to the Canada Growth Fund mandate. You will be involved in all aspects of the investment process including research, origination, due diligence and analysis of investment opportunities, financing and asset management.
In this role, you'll:
Assess investment opportunities across multiple sectors, including projects, clean technology, and critical minerals; execute transactions; and support ongoing asset management activities
Conduct industry, market, and company research to support investment origination and execution activities
Participate in the investment appraisal process (build detailed operational and financial models, determine and substantiate key valuation assumptions, conduct sensitivity analyses on main value drivers)
Analyze and review key trends in the energy transition, conduct ad hoc deep dive research, prepare supporting analysis, interact with industry experts
Participate in the preparation of investment memorandums and presentation of recommendations to the investment committees
Participate in key due diligence activities conducted on target companies, including coordination and review of the work performed by third-party advisors (commercial, environmental, technical, legal, financing, accounting, tax, environmental, etc.)
Assist deal teams in the determination of material ESG factors and calculation of impact metrics, including avoided emissions and economic benefits associated with transactions
Assist with monitoring portfolio investments and preparing ongoing performance reporting
Build knowledge of key sectors relevant to the Canada Growth Fund and participate in industry conferences, meetings, and networking activities
Note: The position requires travel within Canada and occasionally internationally.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
CFA, CPA, CBV, or MBA is considered an asset
Two (2) to three (3) years of relevant financial analysis, accounting, modelling, valuation and/or transactional experience in investment banking, consulting, valuation, corporate development, project finance, or investment management
Exposure to energy, infrastructure, clean technology, sustainability, or natural resources sectors is considered an asset
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including financial modelling and valuation fundamentals
Understanding of financial statements and corporate finance principles
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a high-performing team environment
Intellectual curiosity and desire to develop expertise in energy transition and climate-related investments
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with Capital IQ, Bloomberg, or similar financial databases is an asset
Strong communication skills in English are required; French language skills are considered an asset
