The Senior Analyst, Asset Management is responsible for providing financial and operational analysis to support managing the investment performance of the Company’s portfolio of assets. This role reports into the Investment Performance and Analytics team and supports the West Coast Asset Management team. This role partners closely with Operations, Investments, and Finance to evaluate asset investment performance, identify value creation opportunities, and support strategic decision-making. The Senior Analyst develops financial models, analyzes portfolio trends, prepares executive-level reporting, and assists with asset business plans designed to maximize investment returns.
Essential Job Functions
Analyze asset investment performance across the portfolio, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to expand asset value. Develop and maintain asset-level and portfolio-level financial models, including cash flow projections, valuation analyses, and return analyses. Support the creation, execution, and monitoring of annual asset investment plans. Evaluate capital projects, redevelopment initiatives, and operational improvement opportunities to determine financial impact and investment returns. Perform hold/sell analyses and assist in evaluating acquisition, disposition, refinancing, and recapitalization opportunities. Prepare quarterly and annual portfolio performance reviews, executive presentations, and investment committee materials. Monitor market conditions and competitive properties for rental trends, occupancy performance, and other key drivers impacting portfolio investment performance. Partner with Operations and Finance teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Assist Asset Managers in developing recommendations related to pricing strategy, capital allocation, expense management, and value enhancement initiatives. Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field required.
MBA, MSRE, or other advanced degree preferred.
Experience
4+ years of experience in asset management, real estate finance, investments, valuation, acquisitions, FP&A, or related analytical roles
Multifamily real estate experience strongly preferred.
Experience building and maintaining sophisticated financial models
Experience analyzing large datasets and translating findings into actionable business recommendations
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering and business stakeholders to define problem statements and develop data-driven solutions
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong financial modeling, valuation, forecasting, and analytical skills
Knowledge of multifamily real estate operations and performance metrics including NOI, occupancy, rental rate growth, operating margins, and IRR
Ability to analyze financial statements, operating reports, budgets, and investment performance
Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analytics tools and technologies, such as SQL, R, Python, etc., with a strong ability to perform data analysis and statistical modeling tasks
Ability to synthesize complex information and present recommendations to senior leadership
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
