Job Description
As aSenior Alliance Manager in the alliance management team, you will work with the Guardant Health Biopharma team to help establish, execute, and drive toward successful partnerships with external BioPharma companies. You will be the primary point of contact between Guardant Health and external BioPharma customers and ensure internal teams are aligned with partner requirements, as contracted. You will excel at working cross-functionally with Business Development, Product Development, Finance, Bioinformatics, Translational Strategy, Global Scientific Affairs, Laboratory Operations, Clinical Trial Operations, IT, Client Services and others to deliver on-time and quality results.
In this role, you will manage retrospective and prospective studies, including companion diagnostic studies, ensuring partner expectations are clearly defined, contracted, and effectively managed. You will serve as a trusted partner to biopharma stakeholders by leading governance and check-in meetings, delivering clear business updates, and identifying strategic opportunities to expand key partnerships in collaboration with Business Development.
This role also requires driving internal strategic initiatives that improve process efficiency and partner service delivery. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in relationship management, diagnostics and/or companion diagnostics, and complex cross-functional project leadership. They are skilled at anticipating partner needs, resolving conflicts, building alignment across internal and external stakeholders, and implementing scalable processes that support strong collaboration and successful outcomes.
Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of the alliance lifecycle, including strategic oversight and day-to-day operational activities for assigned partners
Plan, coordinate, and oversee contractual implementation activities between internal project teams and external partner stakeholders. Administer the partnership governance structure.
Establish and lead cross-functional partnership teams, collaborating with internal stakeholders to achieve milestones and deliverables in accordance with the agreement.
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned partners, ensuring clear, timely, and effective communication between organizations.
Assess alliance health and proactively strengthen relationships at the individual and organizational levels.
Advocate for partner needs by communicating priorities internally and ensuring they are addressed appropriately.
Identify and resolve misaligned expectations between organizations. Escalate internal or external issues that may jeopardize partnership health or impact key milestones and deliverables.
Develop an understanding of each partner's organizational culture and leverage those insights to improve collaboration and team effectiveness.
Monitor partnership performance against key performance indicators, communicate results to internal stakeholders, and identify opportunities to create additional value from the alliance.
Partner with leadership to develop, refine, and improve alliance management processes, tools, and best practices.
Qualifications
Typically bachelors with ~12+ years (or 8+with masters / 5+ with PhD / 3+ with
PharmD/MD) Advanced degree in Biology or Business (MS/PhD or MBA) preferred
A minimum of 5 years of work experience in partnerships or account management, preferably in the pharma or diagnostics space
Strong focus on analytical and problem solving, communication and organizational skills
Level of comfort with complex scientific concepts and corporate software (Ex. Microsoft applications, SalesForce, SmartSheets).
Willing to travel for about ~25% of the time (Company meetings, partner meetings, conferences), depending on meeting requests.
Experience with companion diagnostics partnership best practices and operating under GxP (GCP/GLP) environment preferred

Hybrid Work Model:This section is applicable to onsite employees who are eligible for hybrid work location as specified by management and related policies. Guardant has defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
