Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a
Senior Acoustic and Vibration Engineer to join our team in
Montreal, Quebec, or Mississauga, Ontario and Calgary, Alberta.
This position is a replacement for an existing role within the Acoustics and Vibrations team.
You will become part of a Canadian team of acoustics and vibration specialists recognized for its expertise in the transportation, environmental, industrial, and building sectors. Our practice is built on close collaboration between our Quebec, Alberta and Ontario teams, allowing us to combine complementary expertise and deliver major projects across Canada.
This is a strategic role that combines technical leadership, project management, and business development. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering complex acoustics and vibration studies while serving as a trusted technical advisor to project teams and clients.
As a Senior Acoustic and Vibration Engineer, you will lead multidisciplinary assignments from concept through completion, working closely with engineers, project managers, architects, environmental specialists, and clients. You will also contribute to the growth of AECOM's Acoustics and Vibrations practice through business development, mentorship of technical staff, and the advancement of technical excellence.
Your work will span a wide range of projects, including industrial environmental compliance, transportation infrastructure (rail, roadway, and transit systems), construction projects, architectural acoustics, and mechanical noise and vibration control.
Key Responsibilities- Lead acoustics, noise, and vibration projects for clients in the transportation, industrial, and building sectors.
- Act as a technical expert and advise clients on identifying and resolving complex acoustical and vibration-related challenges.
- Plan and oversee field measurement programs, analyses, modelling, and technical studies.
- Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, impact assessments, and recommendations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support overall project delivery.
- Contribute to business development activities, proposal preparation, and the growth of the practice.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to developing professionals.
- Maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Work in accordance with AECOM's Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality Management policies.
- Contribute to the development of internal standards, tools and innovations
QualificationsMinimum Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in acoustics, environmental noise, vibration, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical and project or discipline leadership on complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong technical expertise in noise and vibration assessment, modelling, analysis, and mitigation.
- Experience supporting or leading projects involving rail, roadway, and public transit infrastructure.
- Experience in architectural acoustics and mechanical equipment noise and vibration control.
- Strong knowledge of applicable provincial, national, and international noise and vibration regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop technical professionals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with CAD software, including AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

referred Qualifications- 10+ years of consulting experience in acoustics, noise, vibration, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience leading complex multidisciplinary projects and coordinating technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of building vibration measurement and analysis, including dynamic excitation testing, vibration response measurements, and vibration control for sensitive equipment.
- Experience with structural dynamics software, such as SAP2000.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior and intermediate technical staff.
- Bilingual in French and English, with the ability to communicate effectively in both languages in a technical and professional context.
