DescriptionReporting to the
Senior Manager, Accounting, the
Senior Accountant will be responsible for executing core accounting activities and supporting accurate and timely financial reporting. This role will play a key part in the monthly close process, preparation of journal entries and reconciliations, and maintenance of strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to continuous process improvement.
This role is based in our
Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office
three (3) days per week.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):- Manage assigned accounting areas such as accruals and prepaid expenses
- Where necessary, read contracts and model in excel accounting implications of the arrangement
- Lead functional accrual meetings and work with third party vendors to obtain accrual support where necessary
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries and perform account reconciliations
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Maintain accurate general ledger and supporting documentation in accordance with US GAAP
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
- Support external audits by preparing requested documentation and analyses
- Assist with SOX controls documentation, testing, and compliance efforts
- Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A and other teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Identify and support opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
- Maintain a strong understanding of company policies, procedures, and accounting standards
Requirements- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA preferred
- Public accounting and/or publicly traded company experience preferred
- Life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven mindset of proactive continuous improvement
- Efficient independent worker with ability to focus and drive for results
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong commitment to ethical standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
