Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned accounting areas such as accruals and prepaid expenses

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for executing core accounting activities and supporting accurate and timely financial reporting. This role will play a key part in the monthly close process, preparation of journal entries and reconciliations, and maintenance of strong internal controls. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to continuous process improvement.

This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days per week.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Manage assigned accounting areas such as accruals and prepaid expenses
  • Where necessary, read contracts and model in excel accounting implications of the arrangement
  • Lead functional accrual meetings and work with third party vendors to obtain accrual support where necessary
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries and perform account reconciliations
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Maintain accurate general ledger and supporting documentation in accordance with US GAAP
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support external audits by preparing requested documentation and analyses
  • Assist with SOX controls documentation, testing, and compliance efforts
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A and other teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Identify and support opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency
  • Maintain a strong understanding of company policies, procedures, and accounting standards


Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA preferred
  • Public accounting and/or publicly traded company experience preferred
  • Life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven mindset of proactive continuous improvement
  • Efficient independent worker with ability to focus and drive for results
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to ethical standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
