Full Job Description
ROLE
SunStrong Management is currently searching for a Senior Accountant to be responsible for various areas of general accounting operations across multiple asset-managed residential solar portfolios, with additional exposure to commercial and utility-scale portfolios. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position will require the completion of various monthly, quarterly, and annual close tasks, including the preparation of periodic journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform the accounting processes and functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with US GAAP and the applicable Company's policies.
  • Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting and compliance.
  • Prepare periodic journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Account for residential solar revenue and receivables across lease, PPA, and loan products, including reconciliation of customer billing and collections data to the general ledger.
  • Participate in systems and process improvements to increase the efficiency and accuracy of the close and reporting process.
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses of financial and other information for members of management, external auditors, service providers, and other stakeholders as applicable to supplement the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting process.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree with an accounting concentration
  • 3+ years of financial accounting experience or auditing, preferably with Big4 accounting firm
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task across multiple portfolios and prioritize critical deadlines
  • A team player that has knowledge and experience in US generally accepted accounting principles and is driven to challenge that status quo, meet deadlines, and increase efficiency
  • Ability to implement accounting processes for newly onboarded portfolios based on understanding developed from review of historical financial information, operating agreements, purchase and sale agreements, debt agreements, etc.
  • Experience in systems and process improvement initiatives
  • Understanding of residential solar asset accounting, including revenue recognition, fixed assets, and fund-level allocations
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CPA certification
  • Direct experience accounting for residential solar portfolios (lease, PPA, and loan products)
  • Working knowledge of commercial and utility-scale solar project accounting
  • Familiarity with core accounting concepts within ASC 606, ASC 805, and ASC 842
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Dynamics, Xero, and/or Ramp
  • Experience with accounting for multi-tiered legal structures and partnership accounting; tax equity fund structure and HLBV allocation experience a plus
