Description
Position Summary
RiVidium Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Senior Accountant to support accurate accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for a federal government contracting environment. The role supports the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, project accounting, reconciliations, and timely month-end/year-end close. This individual will also support the transition from QuickBooks Desktop and spreadsheet-based processes to Unanet ERP and collaborate closely with the CFO, finance team, and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers; prepare, post, and review journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and account reconciliations; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including bank/credit-card reconciliations, balance-sheet schedules, supporting workpapers, and financial statement preparation in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Support AP, AR, cash receipts, customer invoicing, collections, and payroll-related accounting; coordinate cutoffs and validate the completeness and accuracy of transactions.
Maintain contract- and project-level accounting records, including labor distribution, direct costs, subcontractor expenses, unbilled receivables, and revenue recognition appropriate to contract terms.
Support indirect cost allocations, fringe/overhead/G&A rate calculations, job-cost reporting, and reconciliation of project costs to the general ledger.
Assist with incurred cost submissions, audit schedules, supporting documentation, and compliance with applicable FAR, DCAA, and contract accounting requirements.
Partner with payroll, billing, and project management to ensure accurate timesheets, labor charging, billing support, and controlled corrections before invoice submission.
Help document SOPs, strengthen segregation of duties and approval controls, support budgeting/forecasting, and explain account and project variances.
Participate in data cleanup, account mapping, testing, reconciliations, and process documentation for the Unanet ERP implementation and post-go-live stabilization.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with at least five years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial hands-on general ledger and month-end close responsibility.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, account reconciliations, journal entries, accrual accounting, AP/AR, payroll accounting, and financial reporting.
Experience with project-based accounting and the ability to reconcile transaction-level activity to the general ledger and financial statements.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, and reconciliation of large datasets.
Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines, maintain complete audit trails, resolve issues independently, and communicate clearly with finance and operational stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Accounting experience with a federal government contractor, including knowledge of FAR, DCAA audit expectations, contract types (T&M, cost-reimbursable, and firm-fixed-price), and direct versus indirect cost treatment.
Working knowledge of indirect rates, labor distribution, project cost reporting, unbilled receivables, and incurred cost submissions.
Hands-on Unanet ERP experience, including implementation, migration, or month-end operations; experience with QuickBooks Desktop is beneficial.
CPA or CPA candidate, or an advanced accounting/finance degree; not required.
Experience supporting financial audits, internal control improvements, and process automation.
