We're hiring a Senior Accountant to own payroll, accounts payable and procurement. We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work and wants room to grow.
What you'll do
• Process semi-monthly multi-state payroll, including new hires, terminations, garnishments, retro adjustments, off-cycle payments and benefit and 401(k)/ESOP remittances
• Reconcile payroll registers and tax liabilities, and support quarterly and year-end filings and W-2s
• Review timesheets and labor charging before each payroll
• Own full-cycle AP: invoice review, three-way match, subcontractor invoices, expense reports, credit card reconciliation, payment runs and 1099s
• Manage procurement of contract-directed materials, equipment, software and services, from quotes and POs through delivery, receipt and DD 250s
• Review costs for allowability, allocability and reasonableness under FAR, and make sure contract and task order coding is correct
• Prepare journal entries, accruals and reconciliations for month-end close, and support DCAA/DCMA audits, indirect rates and incurred cost submissions
• Keep audit-ready records and desk procedures, and help improve the processes as we grow
What you bring
• Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on multi-state payroll
• Full-cycle AP experience, including subcontractor invoices, expense reimbursement and 1099s
• Experience at a government contractor subject to FAR and DCAA requirements
• Working knowledge of cost allowability, allocability and reasonableness
• Strong Excel and ERP/payroll system skills
• Accuracy, ownership and an interest in learning beyond your own area
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Nice to have: CPP or FPC; iSolved, Unanet or Bill.com experience; exposure to indirect rates, incurred cost submissions or contract billing; ESOP experience; CPA or progress toward it.
Where this role can lead
We're building a Finance bench and prefer to promote from within. We view this position as a Controller development track. Once you've mastered payroll, AP and procurement, you'll cross-train in our Billing, AR and General Ledger Senior Accountant role. Over time, working closely with the Controller, you'll come to understand the full accounting and finance function. This is a long-term path, and it suits someone who wants to learn and master the whole function before moving into leadership.
