Full Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to oversee multi-entity accounting operations, including bank reconciliations, fixed assets, lease accounting, tax filings, and financial reporting. This role supports construction and property-related business units across multiple locations and requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage recurring monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Reconciliations
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for multiple entities and accounts, including payroll and general accounts
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Conduct monthly field check postings for multiple districts
  • Rent expenses
  • Assist with Work-In-Progress (WIP) reporting


Tax Compliance & Filings
  • Prepare and compile tax workpapers for multiple entities:
    • Tax provisions
    • Apportionment schedules
    • Lookback calculations
    • M-1 adjustments
  • Support annual tax return preparation and communicate with external tax advisors
  • Prepare extension filings and estimated tax payments
  • Prepare and file quarterly Fuel Tax Credit claims
  • Prepare and file quarterly IFTA tax returns
  • Support compliance for multiple LLCs and corporate entities
  • Assist with gathering mileage logs and supporting documentation


Fixed Assets & Equipment Management
  • Assign and maintain equipment numbers for new purchases
  • Record asset acquisitions and disposals in systems (Plexxis, Sage Fixed Assets, internal platforms)
  • Process payments related to equipment and vehicle purchases
  • Maintain and update asset location tracking across districts
  • Run monthly depreciation and disposal schedules
  • Review and update Right-of-Use (ROU) assets and liabilities for new leases
  • Prepare and record journal entries related to asset sales and disposals
  • Prepare annual property tax schedules
  • File property tax statements across multiple states


Qualifications
  • CPA
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience (construction, property, or multi-entity environment preferred)
  • Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation
  • Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Plexxis, or similar ERP systems)
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently


Preferred Skills
  • Experience in construction or real estate industry
  • Multi-entity accounting experience
