Senior Accountant

Our Calgary office is hiring Senior Accountants in our Audit practice. KPMG's Audit practice helps clients manage risk so they can focus on their core businesses. By intimately understanding the client's business, we convert information into insights to uncover hidden opportunities to improve client efficiency and performance. What you will do • Apply KPMG audit methodology and Canadian auditing and accounting standards to plan and execute audit engagements. • Lead end-to-end engagement delivery (planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, and completion), ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality expectations are met. • Perform and document audit procedures in complex and higher-risk areas, including key estimates and financial statement disclosures, as applicable. • Evaluate and test internal controls, identify control deficiencies, and support clear, practical recommendations to strengthen the control environment. • Supervise, coach, and review the work of junior team members; provide on-the-job training and timely feedback. • Build and maintain strong client relationships; communicate proactively to obtain information, resolve issues, and escalate engagement risks and technical matters to Managers/Senior Managers as needed. What you bring to the role • Completion of a Canadian CPA-eligible Bachelor's degree • Pursuit or completion of the Canadian CPA designation, or equivalent international credential • 3+ years of experience working in a public accounting firm. • Experience with financial reporting standards such as; IFRS/ PCAOB/ ASPE/ US GAAP/ ASNPO/PSAS • Excellent project management, teamwork and interpersonal skills. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work both independently, with little supervision and within a team environment. • Effectively monitor complex projects on a regular basis to check the progress against deadlines and budget. • Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service and professional in the performance of duties. • Ability to use a range of techniques to analyze an issue.
