Details

The Senior Accountantisa fantastic role for a strong performer who is looking togreatly expandtheir knowledge of ledgers, consolidation, and SEC/GAAP/statutory financial reporting within the P&C segment of an insurance company. Kemper has a proventrack recordfor developing its people for higher roles within the department as well as other functions and across its operating entities. Weseekan analytical and detail-oriented professional toassistwith a wide range of monthly,quarterlyand annual P&C accounting functions associated with Kemper92s financial reporting.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries

  • Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations

  • Consolidatecompany operating information for internal and external financial reporting

  • Work with internal and external auditors and provide necessary support

  • Prepare analytical schedules, analyze variances, and provide support for internal requests

  • Activelyidentify, lead, manage, and complete process improvement projects

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements

  • Prepare and/or review quarterly statutory-basis financial statements

  • Additionalresponsibilities, asassigned

Position Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree inAccounting

  • 3-5 years of industry or public accounting experience.

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred

  • Familiarity with US GAAP, familiarity with statutory accounting principles is a plus

  • Experience navigating a large ERP environment

  • Proficiencyin MS Office products - intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel

  • Experience in Workday and Blackline a strong plus

  • Ability toidentify,analyzeand solve accounting issues.

  • Effective writing skills and strong attention to detailrequired.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Progressive thinking skills,a strongwork ethic, and a knack for innovative solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with varying levels of management and professional staff.

The range for this position is $70,000 to $117,000. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
