DescriptionThe Senior Accountant, sits within the Controllership group of the Accounting department, supporting cost accounting, inventory valuation, and the integrity of the NetSuite ERP environment following the recent merger of two companies and their accounting teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates a proven track record in cost and inventory accounting, monitoring system integrations between NetSuite and connected tools, and evaluating their impact on the financial statements. Must possess expertise in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and advanced Excel skills, along with a collaborative nature, strong problem-solving abilities, and a dedication to accurate and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Own monthly cost accounting close activities, including the inventory roll-forward, tie-out to the NetSuite general ledger, and COGS and margin analysis.
- Support hardware vs. SaaS margin visibility reporting for executive leadership.
- Prepare E&O reserve and warranty accrual calculations and related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Help oversee internal and external inventory counts at warehouse locations as needed, supporting count reconciliations and follow-up on variances.
- Help oversee system integrations between NetSuite and other tools (e.g., Salesforce, Ramp, 3PL/warehouse, and billing systems), assessing their impact on the financial statements and escalating data integrity issues.
- Support the integration of legacy systems and processes from the recent merger, including chart of accounts harmonization and cross-system reconciliations.
- Resolve 3-way match exceptions for hardware invoices and perform landed cost analysis.
- Support fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and roll-forward schedules.
- Maintain SOX segregation of duties between physical goods movement and financial valuation.
- Design and test process improvements, including new reporting tools and dashboards, to increase efficiency and strengthen SOX-compliant internal controls.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, inventory accounting, ERP systems analysis, or a related analytical role.
- Strong understanding of inventory valuation, COGS, and standard costing concepts.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite (or a comparable ERP), including familiarity with API-based integrations between the ERP and connected platforms (e.g., Salesforce, 3PL, and billing systems) and their impact on the financial statements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and data manipulation techniques, and in leveraging AI tools to drive efficiency (Claude and Gemini preferred).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines; experience supporting M&A or system integrations is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment.
