Office Location: Lower Manhattan, NY (4 days per week in the office)CPA RequiredAbout Role:
Accrete is seeking a hands-on, process-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee core accounting activities while driving the development, enhancement, and standardization of accounting processes and systems. Reporting to the Controller, this individual will play a key role in improving accounting workflows, strengthening system integrations, and developing scalable processes that support accurate and efficient financial operations.
The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with hands-on ERP expertise, particularly in NetSuite, and experience working with platforms such as Rippling. This individual must understand how transactions flow across systems and accounting functions, identify process gaps and inefficiencies, and translate those findings into practical workflow improvements, automation opportunities, and stronger controls.
A key responsibility will be ownership of the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing and approvals in Rippling, payment processing, synchronization with NetSuite, and reconciliation of resulting general ledger activity. The successful candidate takes initiative, develops solutions, and leads process improvements from design through implementation.
Key Responsibilities1. Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting- Oversee assigned day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense accounting.
- Execute and continuously improve month-end close procedures to support accurate, timely, and reliable financial reporting.
- Investigate account variances, resolve discrepancies, and maintain complete supporting schedules and documentation.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements, management reporting, and supporting schedules.
- Support external audits and tax compliance by preparing accounting records, reconciliations, and requested documentation.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistently in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP.
2. Accounts Payable & Rippling-to-NetSuite Workflow- Own and continuously improve the end-to-end accounts payable process, from invoice intake, coding, and business approvals in Rippling through payment processing, synchronization, and general ledger posting in NetSuite.
- Ensure invoices, payment transactions, and related accounting entries flow accurately and completely between Rippling and NetSuite.
- Monitor integration activity, investigate failed or incomplete synchronizations, resolve coding and mapping discrepancies, and coordinate corrections to maintain accurate accounts payable records and vendor balances.
- Develop and maintain standardized procedures and controls for invoice processing, approval routing, payment execution, reconciliation, and period-end cut-off.
- Reconcile Rippling accounts payable activity to NetSuite, investigate outstanding differences, and ensure transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounting period.
- Coordinate with invoice approvers and internal stakeholders to resolve outstanding approvals, missing documentation, and processing delays.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual intervention, improve processing efficiency, and strengthen controls throughout the accounts payable lifecycle.
3. ERP Systems & Workflow Development- Serve as a hands-on NetSuite resource, supporting system functionality, transaction processing, reporting, account mapping, and accounting configurations.
- Develop, enhance, and standardize accounting workflows across NetSuite and integrated platforms, including Rippling for payroll, spend management, and accounts payable.
- Evaluate end-to-end transaction flows, from initiation and approval through system integration, general ledger posting, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Identify system limitations, manual workarounds, recurring errors, and process bottlenecks; develop and implement solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and system administrators to improve integrations, resolve data-flow issues, and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistently.
- Support system enhancements, user acceptance testing, process redesign, and automation initiatives.
- Maintain clear documentation of system configurations, transaction mappings, process dependencies, and procedures.
4. Process Improvement & Internal Controls- Assess existing accounting processes and proactively identify opportunities to redesign workflows, eliminate unnecessary manual steps, and improve operational efficiency.
- Design and implement standardized procedures, process documentation, close checklists, and workflow controls.
- Establish clear process ownership, approval paths, review procedures, and escalation protocols.
- Develop sustainable solutions that address root causes rather than relying on recurring manual corrections.
- Collaborate with the Controller to strengthen internal controls, improve audit readiness, and support the continued development of the accounting function.
- Monitor recurring errors and control deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and follow through on implementation.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Leadership- Partner with People/HR, Operations, department managers, and other stakeholders to improve upstream processes that affect accounting accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead assigned process improvement initiatives, coordinating implementation, testing, documentation, and stakeholder adoption.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to accounting team members, promoting consistent execution and accountability.
- Train users on new or enhanced processes, system functionality, and accounting procedures.
- Escalate complex accounting issues, significant control gaps, and matters requiring Controller review.
