The Role We Want You ForThe Project Manager - Electrical Systems is a key leader within SEI's Electrical Self-Perform group, based on the construction project site and responsible for project staff and the quality, cost, and schedule execution of electrical scopes on mission-critical, industrial, and advanced manufacturing design-build projects. You will own the budget, schedule, and quality control plan for electrical scopes ranging from $20 million to over $200 million, from design through closeout, while serving as the key point of coordination among design teams, field operations, subcontractors, and clients.
The Specifics of the Role- Lead coordination and delivery of electrical scopes including Medium-Voltage and Low-Voltage distribution, electrical equipment, temporary power systems, low-voltage power and controls wiring, electrical skids, and E-Houses.
- Participate with the project team and preconstruction services in development of a Project Chart of Accounts for electrical scopes.
- Coordinate with the Project Superintendent on development of a site logistics plan for electrical equipment and material laydown.
- Manage the project permit procedure for electrical work.
- Oversee preparation of installation subcontracts and manage contracts for electrical installation subcontractors.
- Manage the subcontractor buyout process for electrical scopes.
- Assist the Superintendent in the management of electrical subcontractors.
- Maintain understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract and enforce the requirements of the owner agreement at the jobsite.
- Oversee the submittal, change order, and pay request process for electrical scopes.
- Review purchase orders and negotiate terms and costs for electrical equipment and materials.
- Oversee project cost control and cost reporting for electrical scopes; assist in generation of project costs and Job Cost Reports.
- Contribute to the analysis and forecast of quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
- Set up and oversee equipment status tracking and material tracking; expedite deliveries of long-lead electrical equipment to meet schedule.
- Support procurement strategy, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and supplier performance management for major electrical equipment.
- Coordinate personnel and resources, including supervision of electrical project jobsite staff.
- Communicate project expectations to the field operations team.
- Initiate development of the fundamental project schedule and jobsite, including mobilization of the trailer and establishment of jobsite personnel and processes.
- Monitor and record training of all electrical staff personnel; monitor project labor.
- Assist preconstruction services in bidding electrical scopes.
- Implement applicable safety, EEO, and Affirmative Action programs.
- Participate in the project's quality process.
- Contribute to schedule and project closeout processes for electrical scopes.
- Manage all owner coordination and communication related to electrical scopes.
- Establish and execute the budget, timeline, and quality control plan for electrical scopes.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, preferred.
- 6-10 years of experience managing electrical or process construction scopes ($20M+), ideally design-build.
- Strong understanding of NEC and applicable electrical codes, electrical equipment installation standards, and construction cost control.
- Strong project safety record and commitment to safety and quality.
- Previous experience with set-up, budget planning, buyout, and cost reporting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction principles, practices, and technology.
- Previous experience leading a successful project management team.
- Creative and results-oriented with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and scale multi-floor scaffolding.
- Ability to lift objects of at least 50 lbs.
