About the Role:Remitly is seeking an AI-forward Security Engineer to join Security Platforms, the team within Security & Privacy (S&P) that builds the shared systems every security team runs on. Our objective: every asset and identity at Remitly has a known owner, routine security work runs as automated and audited services, and guardrails for AI tools are built into the tooling.
In this role, you will design, build, and operate production services that make the secure path the default path for Remitly's engineers, employees, and AI agents. You will work alongside a Staff Security Engineer and turn useful internal security tools into supported services that teams across the company rely on.
Strength in software engineering, cloud security, and agentic development, combined with curiosity and a habit of teaching yourself new tools, will be part of your success in this role. We are deeply AI-forward, and if you are a builder who wants to reinvent how security is delivered, we want you on our team.
You Will:- Build the Inventory and Ownership Graph: Ship the services and data pipelines that give every device, cloud asset, SaaS app, AI system, and non-human identity a named owner, so findings reach the right team automatically.
- Automate Security Reviews: Build agents and workflows that automate security and privacy design reviews and vulnerability triage, leaving people to focus on novel decisions.
- Build AI Guardrails into the Tooling: Deliver managed settings, hooks, and approval paths for AI agents, connectors, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, so teams can adopt new AI tools quickly.
- Run Automation as Production Services: Move security scripts and scheduled jobs onto an audited automation platform with human approval steps, and support them with the testing, monitoring, and on-call coverage of any production service.
- Partner With Engineering Teams: Work with infrastructure, IT, and product engineering teams to build the platform into how they work, and use their feedback to shape what you ship next.
- Raise the Bar: Give thorough code reviews, take part in design reviews, keep runbooks current, and help engineers across S&P build with agents and code.
You Have:- Software engineering experience building, operating, and supporting production services.
- Proficiency in a language like Python or Golang, and experience building security automation or risk detection tooling.
- Hands-on experience delivering production or open source software through agentic development.
- Experience with agent frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, and CrewAI, or building tools and MCP servers for AI agents.
- Experience designing data models and APIs that other teams build on.
- Experience building on cloud-native infrastructure, like AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes.
- Working knowledge of at least one security area, such as cloud and infrastructure, identity and access, or application security, and the industry frameworks that apply to it.
- Curiosity that shows up outside your day job: you experiment, build, and stay current on open source and new security tools.
- Clear communication with engineers and partners, and experience influencing other teams to act without relying on formal authority.
