Job Description The Sector Lead owns the Burlington, NJ sector: its people, clients, operations, quality, and P&L. This is a seller-doer leadership role for a licensed engineer with a strong geotechnical foundation and working command of construction materials testing/special inspection and environmental services. The Sector Lead sets direction for the sector, retains and grows key client relationships across southern New Jersey and the Philadelphia region, develops staff, and partners closely with the New Jersey (Iselin/Avenel) sector and the Northeast Division leadership to deliver integrated Atlas services.
Core Responsibilities - Full P&L accountability for the Burlington sector: backlog, utilization, revenue, margin, AR/collections, and forecasting
- Lead business development and client retention: pursue and win geotechnical, CMT/special inspection, and environmental work; own senior client relationships with public agencies, developers, and contractors
- Direct day-to-day operations: staffing, scheduling, subcontractors, equipment, safety, and quality
- Serve as senior technical reviewer and, where licensed, engineer of record for geotechnical deliverables
- Recruit, develop, and retain staff; build bench strength and succession
- Coordinate with the New Jersey sector, Northeast Division, and national practice leads on shared resources, pricing, and cross-selling
- Represent Atlas in the regional market (industry associations, agency prequalifications, teaming)
You'll thrive here if you have - B.S. in Civil Engineering; P.E. in New Jersey (or ability to obtain by comity within 6 months)
- 12+ years in geotechnical / CMT / environmental consulting, including 5+ years of P&L or operations leadership
- Demonstrated BD track record and existing client relationships in southern NJ / greater Philadelphia
- Experience leading multi-discipline teams of engineers, inspectors, and technicians
- Strong geotechnical engineering background (investigations, foundation design, construction-phase support)
- Working knowledge of CMT/special inspection operations, NJ UCC, IBC Chapter 17/18, and laboratory accreditation (AASHTO R18 / CCRL / ISO 17025)
- Familiarity with environmental services (Phase I/II, LSRP program) sufficient to scope, price, and cross-sell
- Comfortable with project financial tools (Deltek or similar), proposals, and contracts
- Leads with presence and warmth - builds trust with clients and staff alike
- Decisive operator who can stabilize a sector and then grow it
- Collaborative across sectors; team-first mindset within Atlas
- Well-rounded industry understanding - sees geotech, CMT, and environmental as one offering
- Required: P.E. (NJ)
- Desired: ASCE / Geo-Institute, DFI, ACI, NJSPE, SAME, ULI; agency prequalification experience (NJDOT, NJ Transit, DRPA, PennDOT, NJSDA) a plus.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state's law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
