The Opportunity

We have a great opportunity for a talented Scientist to join our Animal Genetic Technologies department and work in a South San Francisco-based lab that develops and uses state-of-the-art technology for genome manipulation in vivo. In a highly collaborative environment, the candidate will develop and use genome editing technology (including CRISPR) in combination with classic mouse genetics approaches to enable identification of novel modifiers of disease and validation of new targets for therapeutic intervention. The department of Animal Genetic Technologies broadly focuses on creation and genetic analysis of animal models to enable target discovery and validation. The Warming lab works closely with our animal model generation group as well as colleagues across therapeutic areas and across the Genentech research community.

Who You Are

  • Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, in genetics and/or molecular biology, with relevant postdoctoral experience

  • Hands-on experience, with a published track record, working with the mouse as a model system

  • The candidate should have solid molecular biology skills and a strong publication record in a relevant field such as model organism genetics, stem cells, genome editing, and/or synthetic Biology

  • Hands-on experience with relevant techniques, including CRISPR, NGS-based technologies (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, scRNA-Seq, Long-Read sequencing, etc.), microscopy, flow cytometry and imaging

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, the ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a fast-paced team environment

  • A strong interest in technology development and a drive to explore the molecular basis of disease using in vivo models, genetics, and the latest genome editing/engineering technologies

Preferred

  • Basic hands-on experience with bioinformatics workflows and computational sequence analysis pipelines.

  • Hands-on proficiency with viral vector platforms, specifically Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) and lentiviral technologies.

  • 3+ years of post-PhD or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry experience.
