Job Description

PURPOSE: Design, develop, and sustain the plant-level SCADA and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platform used to run and improve manufacturing operations. This role owns the Ignition Perspective application suite and the data architecture beneath it - connecting machines, materials, quality, and business systems into a single, trusted source of plant information, and engineering new capability from that data.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Own the architecture, development, deployment, and lifecycle support of the plant Ignition environment, including gateways, projects, tag providers, templates, and version control.
• Design and build plant-level MES functionality across all value streams (Molding, Tooling, Maintenance, Materials, and Quality Assurance) using consistent standards, navigation, and UI design.
• Build and support digital quality data collection - electronic forms, inspection plans, test method execution, SPC data capture, spec limits, and hold/disposition workflows.
• Develop production scheduling, run data, downtime, scrap, and OEE/EEF screens and dashboards that feed plant KPIs and continuous improvement work.
• Design and maintain the underlying data layer: MS SQL databases, stored procedures, tag historians, queries, indexes, and data models supporting reporting in Ignition and Power BI.
• Integrate SCADA/MES with machine controls and enterprise systems (PLC/HMI, OPC UA/DA, Husky and other OEM controllers, ERP/quality/maintenance systems) through standard, documented interfaces.
• Apply and enforce engineering standards - naming conventions, UDTs/templates, reusable components, source control, change control, test/validation, and documentation.
• Serve as plant subject matter expert for SCADA/MES; provide training, user documentation, and tiered support for plant system programs.
• Support the plant Kaizen and continuous improvement culture; identify and deliver small, fast-win automation of manual data handling as well as large system projects.
• Mentor process specialists, technicians, and engineers on data tools and standard work; participate in cross-plant standardization efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 3+ years developing industrial software, SCADA, MES, or data systems
• Hands-on development experience with Ignition (Perspective and/or Vision)
• Proficiency in Python (Jython scripting), MS SQL / T-SQL, and general web development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST APIs, JSON).
• Working knowledge of industrial connectivity and controls concepts: OPC UA/DA, PLC tag structures, HMI interfaces, and networking.
• Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, and SharePoint integration experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively with others and individually
• Ability to travel up to 10%.
