Position Description: CGI Federal is seeking a Sustainment Operations Lead to oversee post-deployment operations and long-term support for the CIBS (Core Integrated Business Solutions) platform, the delivered solution for a large DHS program. This modernized, SAP-based financial management system supports a large federal civilian agency.
The Sustainment Operations Lead ensures stable production operations, continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination across functional, technical, and program teams. This role maintains system reliability, supports end users, manages enhancements, and ensures operational readiness in a mission-critical environment. Responsibilities include partnering with developers and test engineers on build, deployment, packaging, and release activities. The role is customer-facing, facilitating change control meetings, documenting approvals, maintaining configuration management artifacts, and preparing reports.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office a minimum of two days per week.
Your future duties and responsibilities:• Develop and implement configuration management processes, including identification, control, audits, and release management.
• Lead day-to-day sustainment operations for the SAP financial solution, ensuring availability, security, performance, and data integrity. Manage incident, problem, and change workflows in alignment with agency governance and ITIL practices.
• Coordinate cross-functional triage with SAP technical teams, functional SMEs, interface partners, BASIS administrators, and the cloud hosting provider (NS2).
• Build and manage a Program Service Desk, including staff oversight.
• Support program strategy development for sustainment services.
• Direct SAP releases, enhancement packages, security updates, and break/fix deployments.
• Maintain configuration baselines and ensure adherence to SAP transport procedures.
• Serve as the primary sustainment point of contact for agency leadership and stakeholders.
• Capture, prioritize, and refine enhancement requests.
• Ensure compliance with federal financial policies, accounting standards, A-123 internal controls, FISCAM, and audit readiness requirements.
• Support annual audits by maintaining clear, traceable operational documentation.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:• U.S. citizenship and successful completion of the CGI background check; ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance.
• 12+ years of experience in development, configuration management, and/or production operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.
• Experience in Agile, DevSecOps, or continuous improvement sustainment models.
• SAP sustainment or operations experience, ideally in federal financial environments; strong knowledge of SAP support, transport and release management, and defect remediation.
• Experience with configuration and release management across multiple applications.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience coordinating across complex multi-component environments.
• ITIL certification or equivalent.
Desired qualifications:
• Experience supporting SAP systems for federal agencies.
• Understanding of federal financial processes (general ledger, funds management, budget execution, procurement, grants, cost management).
• Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA or modernization from ECC to S/4HANA.
• Experience supporting hybrid cloud or FedRAMP environments.
• PMP certification.
• Familiarity with federal financial modernization initiatives (FSM).
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $143,500.00 $310,700.00.
