Pay Range Information

Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. Job Description Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Technology Projects Office/Salesforce, this position serves as the Salesforce developer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Chapman's Salesforce environment across two orgs: University Advancement's fundraising system ("Advancement RM") and a custom-built org for Career Development. The role develops and customizes Salesforce solutions using Apex and Visualforce, manages integrations with institutional systems including PeopleSoft, Azure, and Handshake, and works with the user community to gather, document, and translate business requirements into technical solutions.

The candidate should be skilled in handling clients and translating their business requirements, with knowledge of programming languages such as Apex and Visualforce. They will be playing a key role in integrating Salesforce with other systems (such as PeopleSoft, Azure, Handshake, and others), ensuring smooth data flow and automation. Candidates should be proficient with the Salesforce platform, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and AppExchange apps. An ideal candidate will be proficient with AI tools such as Claude and knowledgeable about the newly released Claudeforce.

The candidate must be able to identify technical obstacles, evaluate complex business requirements, and provide practical solutions that meet both functional and non-functional needs. They are encouraged to pursue ongoing education and professional growth to stay up to date with changing market trends and technological advancements.
The ideal candidate should be able to gather business requirements from non-technical end users and translate them into technical solutions.

This position will report to the Director of Technology Projects Office/Salesforce

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a developer for the Salesforce.com environment.
  • Design, build and maintain platform environment to support institutional business needs.
  • Develop and customize solutions using Apex, Visualforce, and Salesforce Cloud tools (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, AppExchange apps).Identify technical obstacles and evaluate complex business requirements to develop practical solutions that meet both functional and non-functional needs.
  • Handle all basic and advanced development functions.
  • Ensure best practices and maintain quality of applications
  • Provide day-to-day support on user objectives, coordinating with clients and project managers to ensure stakeholder participation through the development, testing, and launch phases.
  • Complete regular internal system audits and prepare for upgrades.
  • Coordinate the evaluation, scope and completion of new development requests.
  • Manage Salesforce.com data feeds and integrations with institutional systems, including PeopleSoft, Azure, Handshake, and other platforms, ensuring smooth data flow and automation
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to Salesforce integrations and applications.
  • Assist in training of new users, and grow the Salesforce.com skill set across the organization
  • Work with members of the user community to define and document development requirements
  • Create technical documentation for the company, like user guides, release notes and design documents.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant field/Certified Salesforce developer and or architect
  • At least two to five years of experience in providing development support for Salesforce in a professional office.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead and encourage a collaborate working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage laterally and upwards
  • Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to assess the impact of new requirements on Salesforce.com and all upstream and downstream applications, systems and processes
  • Ability to learn, interpret and abide by university and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy, and work with highly confidential information.
  • Strong knowledge of the platform, with the ability to build custom apps and objects, formula fields, workflows, custom views, and other content of intermediate complexity
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce.com best practices and functionality
  • Two plus years' experience in Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud and Community Cloud
  • Experience in Apex, CSS, JS, controllers and extensions, triggers, batch processes, Restful API/JSON governor limits Marketing Cloud AMPScript
  • Salesforce integration with ETL experience and API management tools such as Mulesoft and Informatica, Jenkins, etc.
  • A documented history of successfully driving projects to completion
  • A demonstrated ability to understand and articulate complex requirements
  • Certification of Salesforce Platform DEV1 or Advanced Admin
  • Build and understand how to navigate in complex JS, CSS, HTML
  • Hands on APEX development, surrounding un-managed package.


Desired Qualifications
  • Work experience as a salesforce developer in Higher Education
  • PeopleSoft and Oracle database experience
  • Proficient with AI tools such as Claude and knowledgeable about newly released Claude force
