Sales Engineer - Power Systems & Critical Infrastructure

Apply Now

We are growing and looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will pair with our sales team to scope and win complex power systems and electrical infrastructure bids - sitting across from the customer's engineers with the credibility to define a solution in real time, and beside our estimating team to turn that scope into a bid we can deliver profitably.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with sales, engineering, and customer teams while contributing to complex power and critical infrastructure projects from bid through delivery.

The preferred candidate will be located in South Carolina or the surrounding region, with the ability to travel to our Sumter, SC facility and active project sites as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Partner with account executives on complex power systems pursuits - joining discovery calls, site walks, and technical reviews as the solution authority in the room
  • Lead technical discovery with customer engineers, facility managers, and operations leaders, uncovering real requirements beyond the RFP
  • Translate customer objectives into a defensible technical scope - switchgear lineups, MV/LV distribution, protection and controls, and power and cooling interdependencies
  • Read and interpret single-line diagrams, construction drawings, and specifications, and develop bills of material and quantity takeoffs
  • Size and validate switchgear, generators, UPS, and distribution equipment against load, redundancy, and reliability requirements
  • Build cost models with the estimating team, owning the technical assumptions behind pricing and margin
  • Author and defend the technical narrative in RFP/RFQ responses through clarification and negotiation
  • Deliver technical presentations and solution walkthroughs that build trust with sophisticated technical buyers

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 5+ years of experience in sales engineering, solutions engineering, design, or estimating within power systems, electrical distribution, switchgear, or critical infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work from single-line diagrams, construction drawings, and specifications
  • Working command of low- and medium-voltage power systems - switchgear, protection relays, distribution, and controls
  • Track record pairing with sales on complex, multi-stakeholder bids
  • Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across sales, engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams
  • Willingness to travel to customer and project sites (estimated 25-40%)

EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS IS A PLUS
  • Data center, marine, or defense power deployments - critical power, redundancy, and generator paralleling
  • Medium-voltage distribution (MV/LV) and the interplay between power, protection, and controls
  • PE designation or relevant industry certifications
  • Manufacturer design certifications (e.g., switchgear, protective relay, or UPS platforms)
  • Estimating-tool and CRM proficiency
  • Experience supporting federal or defense-related infrastructure bids

If you are passionate about power systems and solving complex technical challenges, we encourage you to apply.
