Safety Supervisor (DOT) $82,000 to $90,000 based on experience Plus Bonus!! Job Overview:
The DOT Safety Supervisor supports the consistent execution of company safety and compliance expectations within assigned operations. This role identifies operational risk, reinforces DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and company standards, supports field accountability, and helps reduce accidents, injuries, regulatory exposure, and operating risk while balancing safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute company safety and compliance programs, standards, SOPs, and initiatives while adapting implementation to local operational risk and customer requirements.
Monitor and verify compliance with applicable DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, company policy, and related regulatory requirements.
Lead timely, objective investigations of accidents, incidents, injuries, vehicle events, property damage, and near misses, including root cause, preventability, corrective and preventive action, and follow-up review.
Coordinate post-accident notifications, testing, documentation, and follow-up actions in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
Review hours-of-service and ELD records, investigate exceptions, coach drivers and supervisors, and track corrective actions.
Conduct risk-based yard, shop, terminal, and driver observations; document findings, verify corrective action completion, and escalate repeat, serious, or unresolved deficiencies.
Support OSHA and shop safety through inspections, hazard identification, safe-work-practice reviews, and coordination with Maintenance and Operations.
Develop, facilitate, coordinate, and document safety and compliance training, including driver orientation, recurring training, remedial coaching, and required regulatory programs.
Partner with Operations & Maintenance leadership to coach safe behaviors, reinforce accountability, and support corrective action while respecting applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Prepare clear, factual corrective-action documentation related to coaching, counseling, retraining, and policy or safety violations.
Audit driver qualification, training, incident, testing, and related safety files for completeness, accuracy, confidentiality, retention, and audit readiness.
Maintain accurate records and data integrity across safety, compliance, telematics, camera, training, audit, claims, and reporting systems.
Analyze safety KPIs, leading and lagging indicators, inspection results, trend reports, system gaps, and overdue corrective actions to support operating action plans and leadership escalation.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent;
Minimum three years of transportation safety, fleet operations, commercial driving, occupational safety, compliance, or risk management experience.
Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA requirements, hours-of-service rules, ELD records, accident response, driver qualification files, OSHA/shop safety, and regulatory compliance audit practices.
Experience conducting accident investigations, driver coaching, safety training, file audits, field observations, and objective corrective-action documentation.
Strong communication, coaching, analytical, root cause analysis, decision-making, organization, prioritization, and follow-through skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and the ability to learn telematics, camera, claims, safety, and ELD systems
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to travel as required.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, respond to time-sensitive incidents, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and union representatives.
