Full Job Description
Job Overview:

This position reports to the corporate Health, Safety, and Environment Manager in support of APTIM nuclear decommissioning work in Los Alamos, New Mexico and company-wide. Safety personnel are a part of a multi-disciplined team supporting our projects and will be primarily focused on supporting and managing safety activities on site.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • The Safety Professional will be responsible for the implementation of HSE policies and procedures
  • Ability to interpret and apply OSHA standards
  • HSE surveys and audits, maintain HSE documentation
  • Collect and analyze HSE metrics
  • Conduct accident investigations, participate in the safety committee.
  • Provide safety field oversight of production personnel involved in radiological and RCRA D&D activities.


Basic Qualifications:
  • The position requires a minimum of eight years of safety and industrial hygiene experience with a Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial engineering or related field of study required, and working knowledge of OSHA Construction Industry standards.
  • CSP, CIH, CHMM or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience in the fields of construction, demolition, remediation, asbestos abatement, lead abatement, lifting & rigging, ergonomics, noise, scaffolding, air monitoring and industrial hygiene equipment
  • Prior Department of Energy experience (10 CFR 851) strongly preferred
  • Experience in radiological and environmental decontamination and decommissioning fields a plus
  • Must be a US Citizen; no dual citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain radiological qualifications
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to pass and maintain a medical clearance for entry into radiological areas.
  • Occasional overtime and travel may be required (infrequent)

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 Per Year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
